Not exactly a riveting performance by UCLA yesterday.

Agree - beating UC Riverside by 1 is not ideal. It will be interesting to see how UCLA plays at Villanova on Dec 9th.

MU82

UCLA has some real good talent, but they're very young. That's a recipe for lack of consistent performance - they'll have some great wins (and good losses, such as to MU), and some head-scratchin' bad results too.

There's something called the "Maui Hangover" for a reason.  It's real.  Kansas, UCLA, Tennessee all looked bad in their first game back after the Maui Invite.

The good news is we don't need UCLA to get MU into the NCAA Tournament.  We'll be fine regardless of how they are.

Fun fact:

Not only are Kansas and UConn the last two national champs, but both can say that their last loss was to Marquette!

Clingan vs Dickinson will be fun, but I am more intrigued of Samson Johnson vs Dickinson to be honest. Johnson is uber athletic and will give Hunter tons of problems.

Sounds like a sword fight

Purdue and Northwestern tied.  I wish they were 4-15 from three vs us.

El Guerrero 2

Tristen Newton is a problem. That kid is ballin' out of his mind tonight.

Purdue's got their hands full tonite.  It they shot threes like that against us, we boat-race them.

Edey is a cheat code.

Purude down 2 with 3.9 left inbounding under their own hoop.

Chuck it deep to Edey. Call time out.

2.7 left throw an inbounds lob to Edey. Go to OT.

Unreal.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

Buie is a terrific college player.   They can't guard the guy at all.

PGsHeroes32

Purdue guards turning it over horribly in OT. You have a 7'4 guy. Cant throw it away.

Now NU fouls the 3 point shooter up 4.

I know this is a new year but I don't trust Purdue come tournament time.

Southern as the only matchup in the 11 days between Maui and Wisconsin was a very nice piece of scheduling for MU.

You pressure their guards and they're toast.

That's definitely part of it.  Also, against good teams if they don't make 3's they have major probs.  Smith and Loyer played great against MU but I just don't see them having 4, 5, or 6 great games in a row.  Lastly, I don't think they're great defensively.

MuggsyB

The truth is, like last year, there isn't a dominant team.  UCONN dominated the tournament but remember they were a 4 seed.  Having now watched all the top teams I'm not so sure that our A game isn't the best in tbe country.

MU82

I was flipping back and forth between UConn-Kansas and Pac-12 championship. Didn't even know Purdue and NW were playing until I saw it on the bottom line of one of those games. So then I had to watch all 3. Really fun night of sports television.

MU's top 3 is the most dangerous in the country.  I'm very confident saying that and wouldn't trade them for the word. What we need is consistency from guys 4-8 or 9.  I also like that we take care of the basketball and are experienced.  When it's all said and done, if we're healthy and Oso can stay on the floor, the opportunity will be there to get back to the promised land.  Whether we stay on the 1 line or not in mid March.

The ceiling for this team is extremely high.

NW does it again.
3 point shooting was flipped and the opposite in the NW vs Purdue game. NW 10/20 from 3 Purdue 5/19 from 3.
Purdue shot 10/21 from 3 against MU and MU shot 5/17 from 3 and we only lost by 3 points. Provides hope.

Agreed. Of course I remember the Wade 3 phantom fouls (in like 7 mins) in 2001 so I'm a little nervous about tomorrow.
