This is good news for the Big East conference. The Big East and Big Ten are in advanced discussions to renew the Gavitt Games beyond the 2023-24 season.

With more big games early in season, this definitely helps the contract negotiations with Fox. Quality inventory in non-con is important.

Then again, Fox already has the B1G so they can get half of these games as it is, no matter what the BE does with its TV rights.

Yes, this is an example of Fox helping its properties versus the properties helping Fox. Eff ESPN

The Gavitt games historically have been on BTN and FS1. I am hoping with the new contract, they remove the BTN and exclusively use Fox channels, which would get more eyeballs on games since not everyone has access to watch the BTN.

One has to ask also why would Fox continue to show the Gavitt games if they do not plan to show BE basketball in general? Just my opinion.

If they're talking about opening the season with it, it probably won't be on big Fox. That'll be Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday in primetime. I love the idea.

The Lens

Fox owns 50% of BTN so BTN is likely to be involved.

We could play UCLA early in the season.
