The "immunized" incident may have been the time when the PUBLIC perception of him changed, but there were obviously signs that he had a difficult personality even before that. He is a complex person for sure.

I actually wonder if he'll be the guy never to come back to Green Bay. Everyone knew Favre would be back. Not sure about him.

He was. For the most part I think all GB fans knew he was a jamoke, but he kept playing well enough that his jamoke-ness could be overlooked.

It's the classic thing where your off-field issues can be tolerated for as long as they don't eclipse your on-field performance. When that balance starts to go the other way though...

Not sure Green Bay fans knew he was "inept" but I'm assuming you meant a diva/weirdo.

But even then most Green Bay fans I knew at any pointing out of his personal shortcomings would say you had Rodgers derangement syndrome.

Yeah, every Packer fan thought he hung the moon up until he left. I don't see anything wrong with that. But to claim GB fans had soured on him years ago is a full history rewrite. (Maybe there are secret Packer fan clubs that met to air their concerns but are sworn to a Illuminati oath to not make public.)

I think a fair number of fans had second thoughts about him as a dude, while still appreciating what he did on the field.

Plus, until Lafleur was hired, he developed some pretty bad habits that lead to poor results. His footwork was pretty bad.

Also, that and he was switching the play all the time. Even under Lafleur the offense ran better when Rodgers was bought in. I think they changed it quite a bit to Rodgers' liking (far less motion) his last year and it was a mess.
