Mayor McCheese

how do you get in being the coach of a game like this?

pure genius stuff by Bill Simmons, remember to read day 2

I saw on ESPN lat night that UNC has gotten 53 McD AA's since the game began in 77 and Duke has gotten 44.  Does anyone know how many have we gotten?  Nobody immediately springs to mind, though Doc Rivers was a very highly sought after recruit.
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Rivers also pulled an "Eric Gordon" and verballed to DePaul before signing with us

MU has 3.  Rivers, Walter Downing and Kerry Trotter.

Again, Downing actually attended DePaul first, then transferred to Marquette. So he wasn't really an MU recruit playing in the McD AA game.

I'd argue that a lot of kids make the team because they've committed to Duke, UNC, or another big time program.

I like Shumpert a lot-- I think he'll be a good college ballplayer, but he's done nothing this season to match the hype generated last summer.  McDonald's All-American?  I don't think so.  He hasn't even had the best season of the players in his conference.

Maybe he's coasting or trying to work on parts of his game that don't generate obvious stats, but he hasn't had a headline-grabbing regular season.  He's on this team because of last summer and because his recruitment generated a lot of interest-- and because he committed to an ACC school.

All that being said, I think he will contribute and be a good college player-- I just don't think he's an All-American.  I don't think he's even had an all-state season.

Weren't we after Willie Warren, as well?

BTW, this looks like a typo:

Nick Williams is not highly rated enough to be considered for inclusion.

I'm asking honestly, why are you so excited for the game?  I can watch about 2 minutes on tv before having to turn the channel.  I really think you'll be bored about ten minutes into the game.  After the 30th three pointer, and 20th dunk you'll be left wondering why you spent your earned income on such horrible basketball.

why not go and see kids who have the potential to be the next big college star in real life. We don't get too many chances to see kids that are going off to North Carolina or Duke in real life.

i am going to the game with friends and am going to be drunk watching a mildly less explosive and 1 game in real life. gonna break out some FUBU and have a great time.

tape Dancing with the Stars for me I will watch it when I get back.

Well I didn't know you were getting drunk, now I might consider it more entertaining then dancing with the stars.

Good luck trying to get a beer at a high school game.
