Don't see Duke getting past Tennessee

Zeigler injury last week is a killer for Tennessee. Would almost be like us losing Kolek

Not to mention the fact that the Ragin' Cajuns are not exactly pushovers.

Why are you attacking me Tower?

C'mon, Muggsy.  Even you have acknowledged in the past that you are not shy about expressing yourself on this site.

He was laughing with you, not at you.
Have some patience, FFS.

I was just joking.  Tower knows that.

Upset specials?  How good is Kent State?

Skatastrophy

Based on a quick google search, this 2 seed is the highest MU has ever been seeded in the tourney. We've been a 3 seed a few times - 1979, 2003, 2012 and 2013

Anyone that can prove that wrong?

3 seed was our previous high. I don't believe they seeded for much of the 70s and would've been a 1 numerous times in that decade if they did.

Dangerous Muggsy. I said months ago how dangerous they are when they took Houston to the wire.

Boise state has sweet 16 written all over them too

Wisky got a 3 seed????

Oh....nm.

MuggsyB

I think one #3 is going down but the question is which one?  I also think Furman and Kent St. have a decent shot for the upset.

And Michigan plays Toledo. Wow! At least they did not chicken out like UNC. Their excuse? They need to "focus moving ahead." From #1 preseason to this. They're too good for the NIT. Right.

Nah- beating Bucky in the NIT will cement him as Shaka's successor.

PointWarrior

Seems like badgers fans really liked having their NIT game revealed by Crean and Wojo

The more I watch these preview shows, the more I dislike Duke.  😳

MuggsyB

I've got to be honest....I think this is the most wide open tournament I've ever seen.

Who ya got Miiami or Drake?

My guess is Norchad is out with an injured ankle, and without their big man, Drake takes it.

PointWarrior

Wasn't Marquette supposed to afraid of Drake?

3 seed was our previous high. I don't believe they seeded for much of the 70s and would've been a 1 numerous times in that decade if they did.

The first time the teams were seeded was in 1979.  Along with the expansion of the tournament from 32 to 40 teams.
Marquette has been seeded 3rd four previous times;  1979 (ranked #10), 2003 (#9), 2012 (#11) & 2013 (#15).

Prior to 1975 (when a second team from a conference was allowed/invited) the tournament had been 23 teams for several years.

The six team MidEast bracket gave byes through to the round of 16 to the winners of the Big Ten and the SEC.
The winners of the MAC and Ohio Valley received bids to the first round.
The final teams given invites to the MidEast were two at-large, or independents, who played the OVC and MAC champions.

In part this was a reason Al blew up in 1970 when the two independents in the MidEast were Jacksonville (#4) and Notre Dame (#9).
Al felt his #7 Warriors were snubbed when they received the bid to the Midwest in Fort Worth.  And instead of MU, it was the Irish matching up with Adolph Rupp's Kentucky team in the second round.  Al felt Rupp had the Warriors moved out of the Dayton/Columbus bracket to avoid a repeat of 1969 when MU knocked off Kentucky.
