Texas A&M looked awful in the first half and trailed by 13.  Buzz made great halftime adjustments and started to trap and switch ballscreens and it changed the game completely.

The guy can flat-out coach.

Going deep for the content tonight. Tough times for you.

I know someone else who can too.

Say what you will about Buzz, no one is taking him to represent your university over Shaka Smart.  Unless, of course, you're an unmitigated racist or like seeing a coach use his charitable work to help ease his way out of job to protect his image

Looking forward to future thread-starters from nlw about other white guys who can coach.

Adolph Rupp sure could coach

I loved Buzz at MU but I never considered him to be a great coach. Great on getting guys into school and playing with a chip on his shoulder. There is no way in hell that Buzz would have taken this team anywhere near the success that Shaka has this season.

Buzz is the type of coach who thrives as the underdog.  Once he's in position as a favorite, he's lost.  We give Ners grief about Buzz mailing it in during the '14 season, but there's probably a hint of self-sabotage more than mailing it in.

He reminds me a lot of George Karl.  Good coaches that can build to a level but asking them to succeed as the favorite?  Not sure they know how to.

I'm talking strictly basketball IQ, but George Karl has forgotten more ball than Buzz has ever learned. Karl never reached the pinnacle and that is part of his legacy, but from I have heard from people, he is high IQ basketball guy.

Agree with that with regards to Karl.  Not reaching the pinnacle was on him.  He self-sabotaged a lot

I definitely like Shaka more than Buzz, and this regular season and BET have been better than anything any of Buzz's teams accomplished. I love this team and what Shaka's done with it.

But Buzz went S16-S16-E8. And from this point on this season is all about getting deep into the tournament, so I'll reserve judgment as to this season's "success" level for another week or two.

As you know, I believe we are going to do some serious winning the next few weeks, so I think Shaka will leave Buzz in the dust.

To nlw and his ilk, Shaka has failed by not being white enough, though.
