That's how they got Brey over Kansas, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, and Villanova

Then someone else suggest McDermott, lmao.

I think Moser is likely their best shot.

The Sultan

Most of the posters realize there is no way that's going to happen.

That has to be the worst fan message board in D-1. I feel I have been transported back to the late 90s, early 00s. ND fans can't do better??

As I say everyday, thank God for Scoop!

My parents are ND alums.  My dad loves ND hoops from when they were good while he was a graduate student there, but hasn't had much to cheer for since they canned Digger.  I've been enjoying joking with my dad that ND is going to go for Wojo next.  He is convinced they are going to hire a Brey assistant, which he is not a fan of.

Moser is probably their most reasonable candidate, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made a play for the Northwestern guy.

Remind your dad that Digger applied to take Al's job.

Collins just signed an extension to boost him to $3MM a year.  I think Brey only makes $2MM.  I don't see them doubling what they paid to entice Collins.  Also, beyond the fact that he's from the area, he rode out 5 pretty awful years after that NCAA berth with little heat under his seat.  And now they are back tournament bound and he's gonna get an extension.  I don't see him entertaining ND at all.  Not a huge step up and not a huge raise.

The Sultan

Moser is making $2.8 million in Oklahoma. He may willingly take a bit of a cut though to get to ND though.

Micah Shrewsberry, the Penn State coach and Indiana native, is another name I have seen tossed about.

I really can't see them going the Bray assistant route.

I'd be cool with that cause I don't see him making them a power.

That message board layout gave me a migraine

Well, in that case you just have to cut him out of your life. No excuses.

1) Moser aint leaving Oklahoma in his second year for Notre Dame, unless he is ushered out.

2) Shaka to Notre Dame is almost as funny as Bobby Knight or Slick Rick Pitino to Notre Dame. Neither is going to happen, for different reasons.

3) I would expect the green slime to do a national search. This is a well-regarded school in the ACC (even if we hate them) and they should have plenty of candidates.

4) Notre Dame may attract some high-powered coaching talent, if the coach believes he can get his recruits into Notre Dame. That's an open question.

I'll throw out a name -- I don't think he'd leave but what about Jerry Stackhouse at Vanderbilt? Would do well for the Domers.

The Sultan

Moser would take the Notre Dame job in a heartbeat.

Negotiations for Moser would be interesting - I have to imagine Castiglione (OK AD) would have to save some face if he let Moser walk after one year, especially given the success Shaka and Dennis Gates have had at their new schools (Shaka was never a candidate coming from TX, but still).  Letting Moser walk would be admitting it was never a good fit and would put a lot of pressure on the replacement hire.

I don't think McDermott is that big of a stretch. I'd be surprised if he was interested, but he seems like a good "stretch" target for ND.

Goose

If I was ND Moser would be my top choice and believe he would do well there

Moser has been there 2 years, just FYI.

McDermott is almost 60, has spent his entire career coaching in the Plains, and has tons of job security.  That doesn't seem like the kind of person who would be tempted by ND.  Hence it seems like a far fetched thought even as a "stretch"

Yea, if McDermott made it through those comments a few years ago, he seems to be very secure there. Plus, he's been successful.

I think Moser would be a good fit for both.

Geez life comes at you fast.  Pretty amazing mistake given that I correctly grouped Shaka and Gates in the same coaching cycle.
