2.  In short, SJU was more physical and aggressive.
5. Turns out MU is still susceptible to bully ball.

Got a feeling that, at whatever level, that's how our BET or NCAA will end.
It's been a great ride though.

Not upset at that end. Marquette kind of gave up and thought it was over and then "March" happened. That's a teachable moment for sure. Nice to have those lessons without losing.
What is to teach. They have had no finish line drilled down for quite a while. Should have learned by now.

Lessons to learn from losing focus at the end.  I do think the subbing of Kennedy lead to a let down.  At least with Shaka I am confident it won't happen again--with players or coaches.
At least not this year. No more Senior day.

Posh made a long 3 around the 1:15 mark after the defense locked them down for about :20-:25 or so.  It was that kind of day

Posh on the year:
Vs. MU: 5 of 10 (2 of 4 and 3 of 6)
Vs. the rest: 7 of 47

Stupid.

Cost them the Big East title, at least 4-seed lines and made me tear down my Warriors pennant in my living room in disgust

Pluses for SJ: MSG, NYC

Pluses for Marquette: SJ has to play on Wednesday and, if they beat Butler (I think likely), play us the next day while we are fresh. Shaka and the team will take what they learned from today's game and will be better prepared for SJ. I doubt that SJ can do better than they did today, as this was probably one of their best games of the season.

Regarding the NCAA- Who knows? You may be proven right. Or not.

STJ played out of their minds, got serious ref help, and had some crazy bullcrap plays at the end.  Marquette still won.

Bring on STJ in the first round, we will pound them.

Why don't we even get ref help at home!  Ha!

Because when we do get "ref help," we don't even realize it and never mention it - like the play today when Jop shoulda been called for passing to himself but all 3 refs blew it.

Higher Stepper Anderson ran in with his drama Queen trot and was ready to reverse that but Szelc indicated it was tipped. Mike Anderson and Szelc were going at it during that time out. I was surprised there was no T.

Officiating was just bad and uneven but I don't think it favored either team egregiously

Kolek said something to him at the line.  Typical trash talk stuff I'm sure

The announcers said Kolek asked him if he "wanted a t-shirt".

100% correct on the middle paragraph.  This was St. John's peak effort and they lost. Marquette can score consistently at that level. St Johns cannot.  Should be a comfortable win if we play them again.

I can't believe he's never been sucker punched in his career.

Tyler should totally pull a Carly Simon here and auction off whispering in the ear of the winner what he said! Perfect NIL opportunity.

Did you ever play high level basketball?  He talks a ton, but so do SOOO many guys.  I don't recall Larry Bird ever getting sucker punched.  Reggie Miller got in a tussle with punches thrown but he was an aggressor, not cause he was running his mouth.

Anyways, as someone who was at the game today, Jeff "Da High Steppa" Anderson put in a Donaghy level performance.  I don't think he was out to get Marquette, but he had some weird need to assist and keep SJ in the game at all costs.

Early on, when MU was rolling, I believe at the under 12 timeout, Anderson is talking to fans near center court(which he does WAYYYY too much).  Kolek comes over to say something.  Mind you this is before any weird calls and Kolek hadn't been remotely demonstrative to this point.  Anderson ignores him.  Kolek moves around to get Anderson's attention, High Steppa rotates his body 90 degrees to continue giving Kolek his back while saying whatever he's saying.  Kolek shrugs in annoyance and walks away.  At that point, I was thinking "I wouldn't be shocked to see some nonsense".  Sure enough, within 5 min of gameplay, he had made 3 questionable calls including running across the court to overrule something.  The Kinsella interaction was absolutely ridiculous to see in real time.

The last minute of the game was one of the weirdest, most surreal, jarring finishes to a game Ive ever attended.  The turnaround David Jones 3 in the corner off the steal was absolutely absurd.  The phantom And-1 on Addae-Wusu's 3 was inexplicable in real time.  And the entire, I mean ENTIRE, arena, including both benches, was baffled by the final "shooting" foul that put Stanley on the line.  The initial signal by the official was out of bounds, Marquette ball.  When Kolek didn't go to throw it in, the reaction was they called it SJ ball.  When Jakubowski announced a foul, it wasn't even immediate disgust, it was a murmured "WTF?!" reaction.

On a more humorous note, my favorite random part of the game was at 15:30 in the 2nd half, a ball went off a foot and out of bounds, MU ball.  David Jones sprinted to the SJ bench and sideline making the "REVIEW IT" twirling motion.  As if that was a thing that would be done at that point of the game.  It made me laugh.

What didn't make me laugh was the following Steph Curry-esque performances:

David Jones (career 29% 3P shooter): 2/5 from 3, both contested desperate shots late.
Dylan Addae-Wusu (34% 3P shooter, averages 1.2 makes per game): 4/6, new career high in points, only other time he's ever made 9 shots in a game was against Depaul
Posh Alexander (18% EIGHTEEN 3P shooter): Before missing a rushed 3 late, he was 3/5. Leading up to today, he made NINE 3s all damn season.

Actually feeling blessed to win despite 3 separate Jean Felix performances.
