As of about 2:21 p.m., central time, the weighted average age of a Scooper was 48.2 years.

The calculation was undertaken using the midpoint of each range (except 19 and below and 90 and above) and weighting the result.

I'd prefer to keep my weight out of this discussion

This is a Sweater vest group.

What this poll tells me about people under 40...

Crean and Buzz had a huge impact on "super fans" while wojo effectively killed that same interest in the 16-26ish group.

It looks like a bunch of scoopers now in the 30-39 range joined in their early to mid twenty's. Now it looks as though the next generation are not nearly as big on scoop.

Or it tells me I'm old and forums are outdated and the 20 somethings are all posting about marquette on tik tok.

That and younger people are smarter than older generations typically and avoid scoop

53 (I was always the youngest in my MU class with a late November birthday, age 17 to start my Freshman year)

Got to see games at the Mecca my Freshman year.  Opened the Bradley Center Sophomore year and a big reason I flew out for Marquette's last home when The Bradley Center closed to complete the circle.

Are you sure you are 70? You started college awfully young to have seen Eddie Hickey.
My dad started taking me to games when I was 9 years old.

Goose

I thought you were at MU under Hickey, but your new post made things clear to me. You were MU at the same time as my older brother.

ChitownSpaceForRent

Three years of Buzz, one year of Wojo.

Senior year under Wojo sucked, but it was expected.

Nothing was more disappointing than Bazz's last year (2013-14) where he packed it up and gave up halfway through the season. Nothing was more draining than the back to back OT losses to St Johns and Providence to end any tourney hopes. unnatural carnal knowledge that dude for that season alone.

Not playing Deonte Burton in the second half against Xavier should be a criminal offense.

Yeah but you had 2 great years before that. Nothing to complain about.

This is me, almost exactly.  Also spent time at O'D's and the Mugrack.  Class of '83.  Good 4 years of basketball under Hank, but never the heights of Al's teams.
Must have met you 2 at some point.
Goal is National Championship

You probably know one or more of my uncles who all matriculated through MU. One spent a lot of time at Hegarty's and also bartended at Brooks Union.

I wouldn't be at all surprised. And if I owe any of them money, you and I never spoke.

Racist, or actually 88?

I was responding to Rico's '69' post... https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=eighty-eight

Not racist, but 'kinda' gross.

73 years young...1967 Saw the warriors in the old garden, 3 of the games with the likes of Brute Force George, jimmie burke and bob wolfe and my dad talked us into the locker room where we met Al and the boys. (Had our hearts broken in the finals by Clyde Frazier and the Salukies). That experience convinced me to head to MU and I worked for Bob Weingart for 3 and a half years and watched from the bench during our #1 ranking.  Was in Madison for the Rick Mount dagger etc etc.

This is the way to do it.  You're gonna turn 50, those kids will be mostly off the payroll and you and wife will be globetrotting for 20 years.  Well done.

Lens
One of the reasons I love you is your optimism. But if you think a guy can have 3 (or in my case 4) kids off the payroll by age 50....

I was at the Garden for the semi-final game. I was also at the Rick Mount dagger game.

64.  One year of Al and the next three with Hank.  Closed the Gym more times than I can remember,  but  if I didn't close the Gym it was O'Ds.

I wish every grad had the opportunity to camp out for season tickets.  Always a fun week!

Used to frequent a place up Wells St called Mike's Talk of the Town for pitchers of gin and tonic!

Makes sense. I just know they all closed soon after I graduated but I think you're right on Hags. They closed at the very end of my senior year

That whole school year they were throwing all sorts of ideas at the wall trying to turn it around. One example was Fridays when a $5 wristband got you free hot dogs and $.25 beers all night. Lots of contests, too, and very low attendance led to a lot of drinks and parties won by my friend group.

They announced they were closing after the end of the school year. Then suddenly word was spreading on a Wednesday that it was the last night. At close that night they announced they weren't getting evicted until noon, so they'd open back up at 8 AM.

I did not want to burst The Lens bubble. Four kids, 28-36 and all on the payroll to various degrees.

Creighton is my second favorite team in the Big East. My dad graduate from Creighton in 1940. He truly believed a Jesuit education was the best education you can get, because of his college experience. That is why he sent me to MUHS and MU. It is also why he became an MU season ticket holder. My uncle Fr. Bernard Portz, S.J taught one year (1960?) at MUHS. Later he taught math and music at Creighton University.

My dad was given a scholarship to Creighton University. He told me more than once he turned down the scholarship, because he wanted to go to the Creighton's business school and the scholarship was for a different curriculum. After he passed away, I found the invoice for his first semester of tuition. It was for $40. I sure that was a lot of money during the depression, but it shows how much the cost of things have changed.

A lot of MUHS guys around my age went to Creighton. I was a Pius guy, but I think 90% of my grade school class of boys were Hilltoppers.

Coleman

Creighton Prep was well represented in my friend group in 2004-2008. A lot of Omaha guys in McCormick freshman year. Probably even more than MUHS and second only to Loyola Academy in Wilmette.
