This MU team, even with some obvious weaknesses, has the potential to make some serious noise.  The Prov loss was beyond upsetting but I like how our guys have bounced back.  My take is this group has a quiet confidence and without question can usurp prime position in the BEast conference over the next 4 games.  Remember, we have been in position to win EVERY one of our 16 games while navigating droughts and some flukish events on the floor. I'm hopeful that we can improve in some fundamental areas and reach the promised land in due time.

This is one of the biggest things I loved about Buzz's teams that Wojo's teams never seemed to have. We've not been blown out this year and are competitive no matter who or where we play. I was hoping to see Shaka bring the intensity back to MU basketball and he's 100% accomplished that.

Phew! I was worried that this thread about this season's team, which has absolutely nothing to do with earlier eras of Marquette basketball, might get 10 posts in without a "Wojo sucks" mention.

What some would consider Buzz's most talented team, in 2011-12, lost 8 games.  Five were by double digits.

The 2012-13 Elite 8 team lost by 33 to Florida earlier in the year.

I could go on.

Buzz's teams got blown out numerous times........some of those blowouts were with his best teams. Some of them were in the NCAA tournament.......some were in the Bug East tournament.

Shaka's team got blown out more then once last season..

I'm as happy as anyone else that it hasn't happened yet this season.......but let's not pretend that Shaka has somehow made the program so strong that we won't get blown out anymore.

Everybody gets blown out.......great coaches and bad coaches.......it's just the nature of sports.

Things are heating up (or cooling down, as the case may be) in the big Nrs-wades bet on whether Kolek shoots 35% or better from behind the arc.

After making his only attempt vs. The Provi got Tyler to .405, he has gone 0-for-2 in each of the next 3 games.

He's now at ...

.349

i forget who had what position?

my bet is tk ends up shooting 38 % beyond the arc.

tyler knows his limitations and one of the best things about him is he knows where he helps this team the most.  he finds the best option for us to score.  if/when he runs out of plan "B"'s, "C"'s,"D"'s...he'll pop a 3 but that is the beauty of a dude with point guard in his blood.  he actually loves and takes more pride in assists over points.  the points will come when opposing players over play his options

I think that's what we all hoped for last year, once opposing coaches focused on shutting down his passing lanes and sending a big at him when he drove into the lane. Didn't adjust successfully (ie, didn't shoot well) towards the end of last year. He's a better, smarter player this year. Let's hope he'll become a more effective shooter and get up to 38% or higher.
