Erik Van Rooyen started the day 8 behind Scottie and is on pace to shoot a 63 and has lost a shot to him

Rico jinx.

Seriously, lots of low scores, but Scottie is nuts this week.

Too bad the PGA Championship is being held at another dump

Oakmont is aiming for 5 inch rough and greens running 15 on the stimpmeter.   I will be there for the Thursday round.

Rico, this is the year for you to enter and win it.

I'd shoot a 61

Everyone shoots a 61.  The question is how many holes does it take to do it.

Picked up one of these over the winter for half off on FBook marketplace.  Makes walking very enjoyable: https://us.mgigolf.com/products/mgi-zip-navigator-at-all-terrain?srsltid=AfmBOookBDA9Y8HPFcSZQlEH8UkmkGbh4M-Supy9sYUgO17xPSJ-CQuq

As for golf trips, anyone make it to the Gulfport/Biloxi area?

It's so boring.  It's hard but it's the same hard hole, one after another.  The PGA occasionally goes to good courses and is willing to take its championship to different places but they also lock in with venues that lack any charm whatsoever and boring venues.

Moving it to May didn't help matters.  It lacks less juice than ever.

Until this morning, I didn't realize it was even this weekend. (I'm not a huge golf guy, but still.)

This article lays out a lot of the problems with the event and the venue.

And you're right - moving it to May has really done nothing for it. I don't know what the solution is since they are so dedicated to the FedEx Cup playoffs though.

The tour and the PGA are separate entities.  They agreed to move it to work with the tour and to be able to host at their new facility in Frisco, TX and making it an anchor site.

They didn't want to deal with the Texas heat in August.  Though, anyone that attended the PGA at Whistling Straits in 2010 and 2015 will tell you that was some of the hottest days of the year.

I'm the backup driver is his driver doesn't show up on time, or if his driver gets sent to jail for skipping traffic.  Otherwise I get to simply enjoy the golf.

A lot of golf left, but an absolute nightmare of a leaderboard for casual viewership numbers if a semblance of this continues
