It's not like Willard is the first coach to do that. In 2022, there was a first-round tourney game between two coaches, Todd Golden (USF) and Matt McMahmon (Murray State), who had already agreed to leave their schools for new jobs the day after their teams were eliminated. Will Wade did the same this past year and was open about it.

Didn't say Willard was the only one. Although he might have been the only one to repeatedly publicly trash his current school while in the process of quitting on the team he was coaching in the NCAA Tournament.

FWIW, Willard also went from one high-major to another; it was not your classic "step up." Though that never stopped another me-first douchenozzle, Buzz.

From what I could gather, it's an independent show at the FC Cincinnati soccer stadium, and X partnered with the promoter, so X isn't putting it on; they're just getting benefits from any ticket buyers who use the code.

I think that's part of it. They are a young team too. They do have some decent road and neutral site games (SMU, UVA, Northwestern), but when the marquee non-conference home game is Boise State, season ticket holders can't be that happy.

Wardle's name has been frequently mentioned as a top candidate if a change is made after this season.
