Eagles have no trouble with No. 22 Pitt

Jerel McNeal had 17 points, Dominic James dished out 12 assists and Ousmane Barro added 14 points and 12 rebounds as Marquette coasted past No. 22 Pittsburgh, 72-54 Friday night at the Bradley Center.

Leading 33-24, the Golden Eagles opened the second half with a 21-4 run to clinch an easy victory. James made up for a poor shooting night with some tremendous interior passing. The Golden Eagles scored 38 points in the paint tonight

Pittsburgh shot 37.3% from the field. Sam Young led the Panthers with 18 points.

Barro, who was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor, did a tremendous defensive job on Pitt freshman DuJuan Blair. Blair was held to six points and five rebounds.

David Cubillan had 13 points and Wesley Matthews added 10 points for Marquette.

Freshman Trevor Mbakwe returned from a knee injury and saw his first action of the season. Mbakwe played eight minutes, but did not score..
