It's an irrelevant program.  Best case scenario is they become Iowa

Big 18 Results yesterday.  All directly help or hurt Marquette's cause:

Oregon mollywhomped Michigan 38-17

Nebraska continued their miserable existence losing to a terrible UCLA team 27-20 in Lincoln.  Raiola has been awful for a month and rumors are he wants to transfer.

Indiana won again, 47-10 in depressing East Lansing.  Hard to believe Indiana could be 9-0 with a new coach as a bunch on 1st and 2nd year coaches preach patience as they suck.

Ohio State beat Penn State, 20-13 where someone's beleaguered coach had to win.

Iowa smashed UW-Madison 42-10 in a game that was never close.

Northwestern won in overtime, 26-20 over Purdue in a game folks will be taking about for years.

Minnesota went into the land of Bielema and won 25-17.  They are now eligible to play in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Finally, in a Big Ten classic matchup,
Washington beat USC 26-21.  USC has to find 2 wins against Notre Dame, Nebraska and UCLA to become bowel eligible.

They were never winning a national title anyway. They're raking in cash. Zero regrets.

The Badgers are not alone in that regard. The conference expansion creates an interesting dichotomy for most schools where they have a financial boon but also effectively closed the door on national title hopes. The path would be easier (still not easy) in the ACC or Big12.

I think for many programs like The Badgers, the concern is not National Title Hopes , it is loss of having a respectable 9-10 win season and generating the alumni and fan interest that Football is all about.

And the 12 team playoff presents something they can shoot for.

And yep. Though this will be a tough hill to climb year after year.

Lots of talk that the AD's fate is tied to Napier, so he really has no choice but to back him. The AD might be out anyway.

I mean, Florida isn't paying $7MM for average, but the Gators have looked markedly better this year.  After that horrible opener, they've been competitive with teams that are vastly more talented than them.  They probably should have beat UT and they gave UGA all they could handle most of that game.

RIP Ben Herbstreit. Such a bummer - he became a purely joyful part of the CFB broadcast experience.  Give your pups an extra snuggle tonight.

This is the college footballiest story of all time.

Live tiger from Florida to attend LSU-Alabama game

Fun fact: Louisiana's surgeon general is a veterinarian

PETA would probably prefer the Tiger to be euthanized straight away.

Ugh jfc.  I know that useless handwringing over animal welfare gets rightfully mocked around these parts, but the breeding and leasing of exotic animals is a brutal but eminently fixable problem, especially in the south. E.g. until this year, circus world in Baraboo leased their circus elephants from a ranch in Oklahoma that has been cited for animal welfare violations pretty much all the time. They stopped using elephants in their shows this year and should be applauded for that - but if you are seeing a lion, tiger, bear, elephant or other similar animal anywhere it doesn't belong, you can be 100% confident it has had a brutal life up to that point.

The Sultan

I think it's pretty awful to have a tiger on the sidelines of a football game.

I think it's even more surprising given the steps LSU has taken and millions they've spent on Mike's habitat, healthcare, and general care to assure he's one of the most pampered animals in the country.

So to be like "yea we wouldn't do that to him...let's just get another one to do it" is pretty incongruent

My niece is possibly going to LSU and encountered some on campus who very much want him on the sideline

Agree, having Mr. Woods that close to coeds may not be wise.

Yowsa: Indiana is a 14-point favorite over Michigan.

The way college football does the portal really penalizes playoff teams.  While it was pretty common knowledge Harbaugh was exploring the NFL, there was uncertainty surrounding McCarthy which tied their hands at QB.  That's been the biggest problem they've had this year, along with a disappoint o-line.

I'd argue the misses at QB in recruiting post-'21 are the problem, though the jury is out on Jadyn Davis.  Talk is they're going to flip Bryce Underwood from LSU and if they do, that hot seat goes cold fast

Down 5 with all 3 timeouts left and Georgia Tech lining up to punt, Miami has to call a timeout out of the 2 minute timeout. Miami turns it over a few seconds later and now Miami has 1 less timeout to try to hold them to a field goal and tie the game.
