I can't remember if Paulie got his appropriate amount of money for the Lufthansa Heist?  Jimmy Conway got way too paranoid.  I do recall Paulie slicing garlic in prison with a razor so thin that it would liquefy in the pan.  "it was a very good system."   Paulie also knew deep down Tommy whacked Billy Batts.  That was the beginning of the downward spiral.

I saw an interview with him once where he said he wasn't sure he wanted to do the Goodfellas role because he generally had done more "happy" characters during his career. For instance, I believe during The Godfather time he was doing musicals on Broadway.

  there is also the story that f.f. coppola took offense when his date was flirting with paul even though he was there with his pregnant wife.  p.s. felt fran held that against him.  wonder what happened to coppola's date?
