The world is going to be fine.  It's a far less dangerous place than it was 50 years ago.  Don't let nostalgia get in the way of reality.

I will say that this is absolutely shocking, especially given that this is Japan.

I believe I saw a stat that Japan averages under 10 gun deaths A YEAR.  So this is exceptionally shocking.
