Update from NIU re: campus shooting

 I am a graduate student at Northern Illinois University. Five students and the loser who shot up Cole Hall are dead. Sixteen other students are injured and are in the hospital. This is a great tragedy and I am still shocked that this actually happened to our campus.

Campus is locked down tight. I am a TA in the Political Science Department and we were locked down in our office for the duration of the event. A cop in full armor and brandishing a shotgun came and told us to leave campus ASAP. Campus is still closed and will be for some time, and I doubt that things get back to normal this semester.

I graduated from Marquette in 2003 and am getting my PhD at NIU.  I would ask your prayers during this difficult time for us here in DeKalb.
