Exactly 45 years ago tonight. The calendars for 1977 and 2022 are identical.

On March 28,1977 I watched the game in a dorm; got really loaded in various Wells Street bars later; then made my way to the airport around 2 am.

Man, do I feel old.

I was in 8th grade and watched the game at my sister's house. After the victory we went down to campus and then to the airport. My favorite memory of the night was hearing that my very stoic brother-in-law was caught dancing on a table at bar near the Omni hours after the game. It was a well-earned dance and a big part of our family MU memories.

5th grade.  Sent to bed at halftime.

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

RealChiliWarrior

Watched the game at the Big Kumquat in Arlington Heights, IL with two classmates.  When game ended, we drove to campus.  Squeezed our way into the Gym met up with more friends and then the Gym was shutdown and emptied.

Crazy that you remember.  What a memory you have!
VIOLENCE!

Warriors4ever

Watching in the lounge at the grad dorm at University of Illinois,  where I was in law school.   The crowd agreed that the three of us who were Marquette grads got the front row seats.  Afterwards went out with one of my friends for a celebratory beer.
Ironically the Saturday  before, I was actually in Madison for a Women and the Law conference.  I ditched the afternoon session to watch the semifinal game in our hotel room.  The apartment building next door erupted in cheers when Whitehead made that basket.

Lots of fading memories.  But not that one!!!

Superfan

Watched at the packer union.  Showered with beer that was thrown across the crowd when the game ended.  Proceeded to the lake with thousands of others via WI Avenue which the crowd shut down.  Recall drinkers on the lightposts, on top of busses and on the rooftop of Angelo's.  The slight rain that night saved the city!  Met the team at the airport at 2:00 AM with 10,000 others.  Night I will never forget!

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

McLean Virginia for training at Red Barn headquarters in motel room.

MUUWUWM

Watched the game with some high school buddy's at Zaffiro's pizza on east side.

When they won we, about 8 of us piled into my Vega hatchback and went down Wisconsin Ave.

Was at Brooks Memorial Union on campus with my girlfriend, her best friend, several of our friends from campus and lots of beer. There was a very large television set up for the evening. I was in the horde that went down to the lake in the very cold rain that night!

Coming from a Marquette family, I remember shaking as it became apparent what was about to happen.... and feeling an overwhelming emotion I've rarely felt in my life.

I did feel a bit sad because the one person I wished I could have been with that night was my Marquette-grad father, who lived and died with Marquette for years and was back in Nashville earning a living.

The girlfriend that night has been Ms. Dgies for the past 42 years.

P.S. -- HOW MANY OF YOU STILL HAVE A WELLS STREET PARKING METER? If you were there that night, you know what I mean!

Nukem2

Was there in the upper deck in The Omni after getting drenched walking to a pre-game MU event and then on to the Omni.  A lot of rain that night and the roof leaked!   :)

TheREALwrk

Wasn't born yet but my mother was in her first year at MU. After the W, she climbed atop a truck to celebrate and the truck started moving. Fell off and cracked her head open. Parents made her come home and finish out her college years at Loyola U, Chicago. Ha!

GooooMarquette

At the Omni as a 14 year old HS freshman. Lower level, about 20 rows behind Al & company. And dry because we had taken a charter bus from our hotel.

Interesting sidenote: they still played consolation games back then, and our bus got caught in traffic so we only caught the end of the UNLV – UNCC game.

romey

Junior in high school.  Watched at home with family. My dad, an MU dentist, headed to bed after the game. We were season ticket holders. My mom said, "do you want to go to the airport?"  hell yes, so we did and I got autographs from most of the team - unfortunately, not Butch.  Still have them.  The only thing I had to write on was a handwritten excuse from my mom for an eye doctor appointment and the hall pass from school.  So the autographs are on the back of those.

WellsstreetWanderer

watched the game at Roger Parr's house and then took my future wife to the Avalanche where i repiicated most  of my undergrad nights.

Miss Katie’s

7 years old and got to stay up late to watch at home with my aunt who was babysitting while my MU grad parents were at the Omni!

Mu8891

I was in 5th grade ... but I got to stay up to watch !!
