SAFETY UPDATE: MUPD reminds drivers to not leave valuables in unattended vehicles

In response to an uptick in vehicle break-ins across the City of Milwaukee, Marquette University Police Department is reminding drivers on campus to remove valuable items from their vehicles. Perpetrators are breaking car windows and grabbing visible/accessible items of value.

If you witness a car break-in, do not engage the perpetrators. In looking at recent trends, most of these crimes are committed by organized, larger groups of people.

Be a good witness:

Stay safe. Keep a safe distance and do not draw attention to your presence
Call MUPD at (414) 288-1911. Share as much information as you can gather.
If you observe any suspicious behavior or fear for your safety at any time, contact MUPD at (414) 288-1911 or through the mobile Blue Light feature on the EagleEye app. To utilize the mobile Blue Light feature, enable location services on your phone.

The subject, who is not affiliated with Marquette, is wanted for questioning in an assault that occurred outside the MUPD patrol zone. Do not approach the subject as he may be armed and dangerous.

Despite its crime-ridden neighborhood, Marquette is kicking a$$ on first-year deposits for this upcoming fall. Double digit percentage increase from what I understand.

Word is, he helicoptered in with somebody named or not named Brown, who might or might not have been African-American, and the helicopter might have or might not have almost crashed. And if anybody says otherwise, he'll sue ... or not.

America's GDP is the envy of the world; homicides and violent crimes are down; the stock market is near an all-time high; most corporate earnings have been very good; unemployment is near an all-time low; wages have been rising; inflation is trending much lower, which soon will lead to rate cuts; the Covid recession that started under the previous administration is long over; important projects are finally taking place thanks to the passage of infrastructure and semiconductor legislation, which the previous administration failed to deliver; America is producing more oil than at any time in its history even as it ramps up alternative energy; America's relationship with longstanding allies has been repaired; illegal immigration is trending significantly lower despite the previous president selfishly shutting down bipartisan legislation that was written by a top Republican; U.S. manufacturing output has been increasing; a jury convicted a corrupt criminal of 34 felonies; and a new presidential candidate is energizing voters across our great nation.

I’ve been downtown four times this summer and twice I’ve come back to a shattered window. I already don’t leave valuables in the car, so I guess the next step (other than avoiding the area) is to just leave the car doors open. I did feel pretty stupid having to go to the same guy to get my window replaced twice in two weeks. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The Milwaukee Police Department have taken into custody a suspect wanted for questioning in an assault that occurred outside the MUPD patrol zone, which was shared with the Marquette community via the below update on August 14, 2024. Charges are pending.

Sign me up for paying for four more years of these results. Though the entertainment value is way down, what wirth the lack of half the staff being convicted of crimes.

On a local note, congrats to Wisconsin Republicans for decisively voting against two 2020 election deniers who were running for state legislative spots, including one who actively tried to cheat to keep the then-president in office. Now that Wisconsin maps have been un-gerrymandered, should make for an interesting (and far fairer) state election in November.
