Kolek had a better offensive rating than Hunter this year.  Both turned it over too much but had good assist rates.

If Hunter commits as a Wojo recruit and sticks around and puts up the numbers he did this year, I can think of a few people who would say "clear the decks" and let him go.

Pretty funny that Kolek and Hunter had the exact same number of 3 point FG makes/attempts.  Both finished 36-128.  Kolek had a better assist rate.  Hunter better 2pt FG%

The Kolek hate from some MU fans is pretty ignorant.  He has some holes in his game, primarily the inability to finish around the rim.  I think he actually shot a 6 foot floater in the UNC game that was one of the few he attempted all season.  I 100% believe Kolek can improve his 3 point shooting, and all off season his drill work needs to be working on 6-8' teardrop floaters.  He consistently can get into the lane and get that shot.

Sports fans are a slave to the moment and completely throw out the body of work.  Do I think Hunter has a higher ceiling?  Yes, but it's revisionist history to think Marquette is a different team with him on it.

It's not "hate" to point out he turned the ball over too much and didn't provide enough of a scoring threat. That's just stating facts.

The question is "can he improve?"

Reading some of the comments here you'd think Kolek was Derrick Wilson.  It's been referenced we were playing 3 on 5 many times?  Huh?

Would I like to see fewer turnovers and better shooting from Kolek?  Of course.  Do I think he can improve in both areas?  Yes.  Was it just his first year playing exclusively as a PG at high major university as a sophomore?  Yes.

Sidenote:  I can live with a higher turnover rate when the player is in constant attack mode.  The pressure players like Kolek and Hunter put on a defense is substantial.  End of the day Kolek made everyone on the floor with him a better player/have better opportunities to score.  There is A LOT to build on there.

Probably longer than Lewis, doe. I think Lewis is gone regardless. Seemed completely disinterested this season, even when he could have been the alpha dog, hey?

The First Team All Big East that averaged 17 and 8 a game "seemed completely disinterested this season?" Lol. If so, he should probably be the first overall pick in the Draft with the thought that NBA teams could get him to play "interested."

Your uninformed attack on Lewis -- who was the main reason MU had any success at all under Shaka this season -- is your Hangin' In The Al version of "Trade Giannis' azz."

Congrats on coming up with an even more ridiculous and clueless basketball take!

Lewis isn't disinterested.  He simply doesn't have a real excitable personality.  He's got a pretty low key demeanor.  That's ok.

PointWarrior

primarily the inability to finish around the rim?

He actually has go to the rim to be able to finish around the rim.  Usually dribbles towards the basket, sees someone over 6 feet guarding him and he looks to pass or dribbles away towards the baseline.

Needs to spend the summer doing individuals with Travis.  Lots of questions about Stevie's growth, incoming freshmen, and the transfer portal as well.

So yo, #5 averaged 8.3 pts and 9.6 rebs in 3 NCAAT games in 2015, hey?

So the dude averaged single digits on the biggest stage of his life and the Warriors spent a first round pick on him?! Sheesh, talk about an incompetent organization...

C'mon man, I'm certain you know this, but just to refresh your memory, Looney was the 11th rated player and a McD AA at 6'9.5 inches tall coming out of Hamilton HS. Had offers from all the big boys. Final 6 schools were Duke, MSU, Tennessee, Florida, UW, and UCLA. Chose the Bruins partially because Steve Alford told him, "I'll get you to the NBA" and was smart enough to arrange a face to face meeting with Kevon's favorite player, Kobe.
He played the entire college season injured. Tore a hip labrum in September prior to the season lifting weights. In spite of that, Kevon averaged a double/double and was named 2nd team All-Pac 12. Went on 18 pre-draft workouts and was projected to be a lottery selection until the torn labrum was discovered in pre-draft physicals. Fell to Golden State, who by the way, never worked him out prior to the draft figuring he would not be available at #30. When shaking Adam Silver's hand after being selected, Silver jokingly asked Kevon, "what took you so long to get here?"
Looney is an unrestricted free agent after this season, has 2 rings, and earned approximately $23.5 million during his career.
Let me know if you want to further compare #5 vs #10, hey?

You're the one smart enough to be predicting #10's professional future based on a single NCAA Tournament game.

Congrats to Looney on his Second Team All Pac 12. #10 was First Team in a better conference.

How are his teeth?

In the biggest game (to that point) of Dwayne Wade's Marquette career, he sucked. 5 TOs and 4/11 shooting vs Holy Cross. Had to be bailed out by Diener, or else there never woulda been a triple-double vs Kentucky.

What a failure, nu?

Nads, that team had 4 NBA players on it. This year's team had bupkis which has been my feeling all season. We need a major upgrade in talent and I have no doubt Shaka will deliver that talent, aina?

We agree on all that.

Where we disagree is your claim that a first-team All-Big East player who made it possible for Shaka to have any success at all this season "seemed completely disinterested" all year.

An absurd take and an unnecessary attack on a college kid who worked his ass off to entertain ungrateful mopes like you, nu?
