Wasn't this supposed to be the location of "Innovation alley"?

Was there a major change to the master plan?

Seems very questionable to me.

Rec Center was incredibly dated 10 years ago when I started at Marquette.

Long overdue for an upgrade.

Scoopers who are more in the know can feel free to correct me.

But as I recall, originally the plan was to put the new Rec Center on the northeast corner of 16th and Wisconsin where McCormick was. But the donor for the new Bus Ad building wanted that building to be placed there instead. So MU changed the plan and are now putting the new Rec Center in the footprint of the old one.

As far as Innovation Alley goes, not sure what their plan is. It'll be weird to have an academic building on the north side of Wisconsin Ave, that's for sure.

Xavier opened a similar building before last academic year called the HUB (Health United Building).

It contains a brand new rec center, offices for medical appointments for students as well as new nursing school simulation labs.
My kid said it's leaps and bounds better than the original and well used.

80 mil seems like a fair price given the current market and scope of the project. Having a robust and desirable recreation complex will absolutely help in recruiting quality students I think.  Go Marquette

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Long overdue and very needed.

Agreed. Fitness and wellness facilities are among the staples of recruiting. This is a big deal.
