Conference tournament play starts tonight with an NEC opening round game between Central Connecticut State and Fairleigh Dickinson. The Atlantic Sun, Horizon, and Patriot League get underway tomorrow.

First bids will be locked up this weekend. OVC on Saturday. Big South and MVC on Sunday.

Sure do love this time of year.  Admittedly have watched far far far less CBB outside the BE than pretty much any other season in the past dozen year or so for one reason or another, but still ready to hunker down and take it all in the next few weeks.

Best time of the year.  Usually immediately followed by MLB opening day as the biggest cherry on top.  Unfortunately looking more like a giant turd on top in that regard.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Cheering a bit for Cleveland State as Dennis Gates was high on my list during the coaching search. It looks like they are in first place again. I'm curious where his next move will be.

He was also high on my list. I'd like to see him at Georgetown.

Nah. F that. Go Oakland and The fighting Jamal Cains!

Daytime basketball today in the Big South.

Lafayette vs. Bucknell was an absurd game last night. Traded baskets until the final whistle.

My favorite weekend to do Vegas is the championship week. Such a blast
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

How do the crowds compare to the NCAA tournament? I was there for the S16 and E8 last year. I'm assuming it was a smaller crowd because of the pandemic, but I thought it was manageable.

Smaller. The big vegas weekend is the first of the NCAAT. I found the sport books to be manageable.

Consensus among bracketologists is that MU is an 8 seed.

As of now they currently have 0 Q3 or Q4 losses.

I have a hard time believing they'd be an 8 with that resume.

Even UW-Madison who people are riding hard right now, have a Q3 loss.  Says something about MUs ability to consistently beat the teams they should beat and battle with any team above their weight class.

If we win out regular season we will be a 7. Book it.

No Q3 losses currently, but Creighton at home, St. Bonaventures, and at Butler are all in spitting distance of the Q2/Q3 line. They probably won't fall enough but it bears watching.

On the flip side, the home wins over Xavier and Seton Hall are both very close to the Q1/Q2 line. I think both will be favored to win their remaining games. Hoping they can both curbstomp Georgetown to give themselves a last minute NET boost.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Lipscomb up 1 at half against Liberty. Would be nice to see them miss the tournament.

BM1090

No luck.

Jamal Cain and Oakland's NCAA hopes come to an end.

Better luck to Koby and Jose.

Mr. Nielsen

Nothing new in March.. Choakland blew a double digit lead this time.

2 Creighton games, Butler game, DePaul game seem to contradict this

Creighton at home is the only real bad one there, but they didn't have Kam Jones that day.

The other 3 are all on the road.  All 4 of those games were either Q1 or Q2

17 and 15 before fouling out of his final (I think) college game.

Fine season for Jamal, who gave his all for Marquette. Finished at 19.9 ppg and 10.2 rpg. Only shot 30% from 3, so hopefully he can improve on that because he'll need to if he's to have any shot at the NBA.

He has no shot at the nba. I'm sure he can make a nice living for decade or some playing overseas somewhere. Wish him the best - class act.

Seem to be doing okay without Moser. How is Oklahoma doing this year?

Longwood makes their first tournament ever.

I wouldn't say "no" shot. I'll never say that again after seeing Juan Anderson become a contributor for an NBA contender. But I agree with what I think you mean -- odds are very long against Jamal having an NBA career, but he should be able to earn $$ playing hoops for a long time.

Everyone's a fan of Longwood.

If Marquette goes down in the first NCAAT game and Longwood survives, I'm going to make the 45-50 minute drive to sleepy little town of Farmville VA and become a Longwood fan for the next game.
