1.  Butler played offense like MU when MU is playing well.   Moving the ball, cutting to open spots when the defense reacts.
2.  Rebounding was not improved during the week off.  It did improve in the second half.
3.  Greg gets knocked down a lot without getting any calls.
4.  Mitchell played his butt off on defense. May have been the only one.   Shaka rewarded effort with minutes.
5.  Interior defense was abysmal for 28 minutes.   Kur in particular.  Made worse by the inability to contain the dribble.
6.  Defense found itself late.   Stevie and Oso.
7.  Thank goodness Lewis finally got frustrated enough to attack the rim.
8.  Go 4 guard, give up a rebound on a free throw.   Bullet dodged.
9.  MU kept fighting and found a way to win ugly.   The only really important word there is 'win. '

Said it in the game thread.

Days away from March. Wins a win.

At this moment all I give a sh*t about is that we won and I can truly enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

Also, anyone who questions what Steve Mitchell can bring should pipe down.

Exactly. Enjoy the rest of the Saturday everyone. Much needed win.

Huge win and all that matters is the final score.  I think we can reestablish momentum to close the reg season.  Shot poorly but still found a way today.

I just want Oso to gain twenty pounds.

Win is a win.

Agreed. He turned the tide and got the crowd into it.

A win now is a BIG win.  Go Marquette!

MU gave up 24 points in a hurry.  32 over the last 3/4 of the game.   A switch got flipped on defense.

Offseason is obviously big for everyone but if he can put on 15 lbs of muscle before next season that will make a big difference.  Hopefully his frame can accommodate that.

It was brutal the first 8 minutes.  Kur was terrible and the rest of the guys looked like they were stuck in cement.  Made shots helped them set the defense

Projected 8/9 for the tournament. I hope not. I'd rather be a 10/11 than 8/9.

Vander Blue Man Group

I'd rather be a 6/7.  Maybe a 6 is unlikely at this point but a 7 is well within reach.

6 or 7 is right there for us which is a solid spot.  8/9 is never ideal, true.

PointWarrior

Kur has been brutal for awhile now - what's up?

Win is a win and it's a big one.

#16
Kur was a back up center at Oklahoma.   He is limited offensively.    Teams are running sets to bring him away and make him defend in space.   When they aren't doing that, he is guarding players who out weigh him by 25-40 lbs.

In a funk.

They kept showing Decourcey's seeding but Bracket Matrix has us as the best 7th seed before the win today. If MU wins their final two games they be a solid 6 and possibly a 5. Need to take care of business.

Fixed. Never seen anyone sprawled on the court as often as Greg.

Loved seeing Stevie get extra minutes and knock down a couple of shots. If there is a stat of deflections per 40, he has to be the leader.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

AlumKCof93

Stevie may have turned the tide with his defensive effort but Oso was huge down the stretch.  Very happy for him.

Meanwhile, need better defensive effort from Greg. IMHO, his offense does not make up for his defense

One trick pony.  A good trick but avoidable

And his offense has been pretty subpar lately

He's way to straight up guarding off the bounce and gets pushed around

wadesworld

He gets to the line when the offense bogs down though. Better than really anyone else on this team.

Joplin had some nice minutes.   With about 12 to go, I wanted him in the game instead of Lewis.   Lewis started attacking.  Never mind.
