Just perusing the various Big East boards, I see a lot of posters think we are overrated at #25 in the ESPN poll.  They may be right.  Time will tell.

Wondering what other people have as the most overrated team in the Top 25?  My vote is for Butler.  They have a good team but #10?  They are not the tenth best team in the country.

My case:
- It jost took overtime to beat UWM (though the Panthers have improved)
- Pomeroy of #43, and Sagarin of #25
- They have played one Top 50 RPI team (vs. Indiana and won)
- They have played 15 games against RPI 100 or lower

I'm curious to hear what other fan bases of BE teams think MU is overrated? I know Louisville fans do. Any others?

Looeyville definitely tops the lists.  A couple of posts on the Pitt board refer to us being overrated.  And, I read a post on one of the Syracuse boards saying we haven't beat anyone all year (they think UW-Madison sucks).

I know a ton of UConn fans who can't believe we are ranked, that's for sure.
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Do Syracuse fans all follow their whiny head coach?  It looks like their best win is against Villanova - who they also lost to.

I'm okay with those opposing fans having their opinions. We did look awful at times in some of our conference games. However, that's all in the past now. I really still feel MU's best basketball is ahead of them. Sure, we don't matchup well with the Louisville's and UCONN's, however, I still would like to face one of them again in the BE tourney. Not only would it give us a shot at another marquee win, but I also think we can play those teams much better and possibly beat them. DJ, who now seems to be getting healthy, wasn't the same ol' DJ when we played those two teams. Ooze is starting and playing with much more energy. Also, Fitzgerald seemed like he was battling some back injury the last month or so - he was seen coming out of games putting a heating pad on his back. Plus, his 3-point shots were uncharacteristically way off which could off been due to an injury . He seems to be finding his stroke again. When he can knock down 3's we're an even better team. So I'm pretty optimistic about what the rest of the season holds. Especially if we stay away from that #8 or #9 seed in the NCAA tourney. That would really kill my optimism.

I'm a Marquette fan and I can't believe we are ranked.

Louisville should certainly have our spot, just to name one team.  The should also be way higher than they are.  I hate Louisville, but that's a damn good team they have there.

According to today's Chicago Tribune, we haven't beaten a ranked team all year. Is that true? Was Wisconsin unranked?

Whether they were or not, we should not be in the top 25.

I'm a huge MU fan, have been since my earliest cognitive days, and agree we are overrated based on the way we have played.  I also think we are a better team than we've shown.  There was no reason for the blow-outs we've suffered, and I'm almost shocked at how well we played Duke.  At the time we played at the Herbie, UW dash Madison was unranked.

going into the BE tourny, I would not be surprised to find MU in the top 20.
they can play with and perhaps beat just about anyone in the country... and also lose awfully.
proven several times this year.

I do not think we're overrated- probably where we ought to be.
