For as much as Buzz talked about building men off the court, life lessons, how to tie a tie or manage a check book, character reveled, etc. It really seems like he did a horrible job of preparing DJO for the next level

DJO was a very good all around college player without elite level skills that would make up for his lack of size.  I mean, he's 6'2".

He didn't fail in the NBA because he was all of the sudden alone and had to drive 30 minutes to practice.

Hard to say who is right here. On one hand you've got the guy being interviewed who actually lived and experienced it. And then on the other hand you have Fluffy Blue Monster.

Players aren't going to say they don't have the skills.  And why has he never migrated back to the NBA after all his time playing in the G-League and in Europe?

Look, I never thought he would be an NBA player.  He's just too small and isn't a point guard.  Which is probably why he was drafted late in the second round near a bunch of players who didn't stick either.

Do people not watch the NBA?

Sounds like the NBA and LA a totally different environment that caught him off guard.  Maybe due to not having enough experience in the world yet.
Now having played in Europe, he probably would be ready, but that ship may have sailed.
Sometimes life is just like that.
In regard to attending Marquette, sometimes not having choices is good.  No option to fail.  Must succeed.  Sounds like Lazar and Jimmy Butler were great examples of upper classman leading by example.

Huh.  You make an assumption and all is good despite him saying "I just don't know."  But you know more about what Buzz taught him though?  Interesting double standard.

DJO wasn't prepared mentally for the NBA. Very clear in these interviews. He didn't know what an agent's role was, he didn.t have an understanding of the business side of things and how rookies were treated, he felt alone. He said he was out working and owning NBA players in practice and he thought that would translate to PT. Sounds like he had a crap attitude and didn't adapt. To me, thats on DJO and Buzz (to an extent) for not having an understanding of whats next, how to get there, and how to stay there.
