I originally had it at 22-8 with us losing the last game at Syracuse but wanted to stay optimistic!

If you don't think we can beat Villanova or Syracuse, and you think losing to St. Johns is a possibility, why would you expect us to beat an NCAA team in the first round?

Villanova is one thing but Syracuse is actually playing at a very high level right now.  I watched them play UConn last week and was thinking to myself that we might score 10 pts. in the first half against their 2-3 zone. The best hope we have is to wear them down since they obviously have depth issues.  My prediction is if the team that showed up against SH last night shows up in the Carrier dome. That will be a great game with us winning it at the buzzer.

I guess I'm not sure why everyone is so ready to concede the Georgetown game. I know they are an excellent team with a very good front line, decent depth, great defense, and on and on...but I have had my doubts about them all year, and I actually think we could present a bit of a difficult match up for them, particularly at home. They have played two very tough road games @UL and @ Pitt and lost them both. . They have had several near misses v. UConn, v. Syracuse, @WVU, and v. Villanova, and survived them all courtesy of miraculous shots or incompetent officiating - 3 of those were at home, and to their credit, they did in fact win, but they appear far from invulnerable. Besides that WVU game, their road wins consist of @RU, @Depaul, and @SJU.

No way I'm ready to put that one straight into the loss column.

I agree. I think we stand a VERY good chance of winning the GTown game, especially if we get the Marquette team we saw last night. This team could very much go 24-6, though I wouldn't be shocked if a loss came somewhere along the way. Just not necessarily against Georgetown.

I loved Georgetown last year, thought they were one of best teams in the country and wasn't surprised when the outclassed us last year.  I don't see it that way this year.  Jeff Green brought so much to them this year and losing him really hurts. I think they're good, but I'm expecting MU to pull that one out, particularly since its at home.

I like the optimism Lastwarrior, but I'm gonna say 22-8.

Similar to what 90warrior stated, I watched the UConn - Syr game and despite their loss, the Orange are definately playing high level b-ball right now.  Both of those teams play a very similar style this year but UConn's talent is simply better.  We will have a very tough time at the Carrier and it will require a better basketball strategy that what TC has shown against stout zones so far to win there.

Cracked Sidewalks has several predictions for the final season record, based on Pomeroy, conference stats and how we've been playing for the last five games.  Anywhere from 24-6 to 22-8, but the confidence interval on losses is zero to two more games.

I still think the Syracuse game at their place will be a tougher game than Gtown at the BC. I see us winning out up until Syracuse. 12-6 is what we will finish folks.

well im shocked that people think we will finish 12-6 because with the mood around here about a week ago youd never think that.

At 7-5 right now i think its safe to say that the worse we would/could end up is 9-9...and thats not completely impossible with games against Pitt, Syracuse, GTown, and Nova- dont forget these are still pretty good teams. At that clip I think we would need to get out of the first round of the conf tournament to make the dance.

Best possible is 13-5, yet a big longshot. We do that and we get atleast 5th(lose tiebreakers to louisville and uconn) but possibly a bye if one of those teams struggles down the stretch. Reguardless 13-5 leaves us with a heck of an RPI, record, some big wins (gtown, pitt, ND, Syr, Wisc) and no worse than a 5 seed in my opinion. More likely a 4 or 3 if we do well in the conf tourney.

More likely finish is at 11-7 in conference. Not bad. If that happens Id want the remaining wins over Pitt and Gtown, or atleast one of the two so we can say weve got some good wins. At this record a ton will depend on the conf tourney. With a trip to the semis or finals we could still be up in that 4-6 seed range. With an early loss we could be down in the 8-10 seed range

Its funny how much those conf tourneys matter because they are so fresh in the committees mind.

FWIW and this is just on pure feeling and hope, but I really think MU goes 12-6 if the can beat Gtown or 11-7 if not, i cant really do any sort of predicting on that one... however, I feel that this team is due for a nice conf tourney run and I feel like if they do fall to that 7-8th seed in conference that they will have the fire, and the ability, to drive deep to the conf. tournament.

Lets worry about Pitt first

5. Syracuse

I don't know the line and I'm not much of a betting man, but I would bet my palacial estate on us routing Pitt on Friday night.
