And Al McGuire wore a suit to every game.  Shaka hasn't won a tournament game since he quit wearing a tie.
My point exactly.  A coach's outfit doesn't correlate in any way shape or form to a team's success.

If you're trolling: Bravo

If you're not:  Wojo wore a suit every day, and we were the most mediocre team in college basketball, if not in all of sports.

I legitimately have no idea if everything Uncle Rico says is a bit or not.

How many Final 4's has Marquette made with a coach dressed like a suburban dad at his kids soccer game?

Agreed.  But the coach represents the University and I think most of us can agree that a suit and tie projects a better image from leadership than a warmup suit.

Basketball coaches wearing suits = lame
Baseball managers wearing uniforms = lame

Football coaches wearing comfortable clothes = awesome.

There is absolutely zero chance that if I were a basketball coach, I would wear a suit and tie.

Shaka is the first coach in Marquette's history to consistently not wear a shirt and tie.  There hasn't been an NCAA tournament during his tenure, so your denominator is zero.  Therefore, the answer to your question is "undefined".

I would be stunned and appalled at the turn this has taken, but scoop gotta scoop.

Let Shaka be Shaka.

Look at Jay Wright.  That man exudes winning.  Case closed

Look, I'll be the first to admit that I'm old school on some of this.  I prefer seeing the suit and tie.

But if Shaka wants to be Shaka, I'm OK with that too.

Jay Wright wore casual-wear for the entire tournament last year.  Villanova made it to the S16 and lost to the eventual champion.  Case closed.

Guyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys stahp.  Rico is 100% the best troll on this board, and you're just feeding him.

Having said that, Robert M Knight never wore a suit.  He's pretty good.  8-)

With the amount those guys get paid, there's no reason they can't put on a jacket and tie for two hours.

In light of what these guys are doing (i.e., coaching a basketball game), there's no reason they should put on a jacket and tie for two hours.

I just spit out my coffee.  You crack me up.

The Lens

Marquette is 3-3 with coaches wearing ties in the Final Four.

BUT one of those losses was SOOOOOOOO bad that it negates any Final Four wins.

Also MU is 0-1 in Final Fours where coaches wear a tie but don't know how to tie a tie.

He can tie it, but he chooses a very lazy knot.

That's not a suit.  Suit jacket and slacks.

Jacket and tie.  Just as good as a suit for the sidelines, and miles ahead of warmups.

Dug into the archives.  Al was undefeated when he wore a buttonare with his suit.

No, it's lame.  They're coaching a basketball game.  Not arguing in front of the court or operating a funeral home.

Hey. In Bloomington or Morgantown, that's the outfit you get buried in.

YaBlueIt

Is the pro-suit crowd really suggesting that they preferred seeing Buzz's pit stains and sweat marks 5 minutes into the first half? Shaka is an active coach. His clothes should reflect that.

As for complaints about the shoes. If you think wearing Jordans is dressing down, go ask your grandkids and see what they say. This ain't 7 am mass.
