Whew.

Yeah Mugsy.  Whew.  Justin redeemed himself for two ft kisses earlier.   Good effort on his part last minute.  Wow

So, we know our 1-2 punch is DM and JLew.  I think our Freshmen will have some ups and downs but the potential is there.  Kolek hasn't shot well but should be alright.  My concern is the frontcourt minus Lewis.  Who do we go with, should we play 3 guards, maybe Oso should get more time, etc, etc.  I understand it's two games but  how would you use O-Max and Kuath?  It didn't sound like they defended or rebounded all that well tonight.  In other words if you were in charge what would be your super 7 rotation?

Can we gauge our best 5 or best overall rotation?  I'm not sure we're gonna get enough from Oso/Kuath.

After 2 games our best players are:

1. Morsell

Big drop

2. Lewis
3. Kolek
4. Mitchell

?????

Tripling down on the bad take.

For a young guy you have zero sense of humor. Glad I'll be dead by the time you're old.

We'll, no real jokes offend me...so therein lies the difference. But if you choose to be offended that's certainly your right.

What's, is.

Correct. My mistake, Rocky.

And it's funnier (and even more ridiculous) that way, too! Thanks!

Oso has played pretty well

Oso has been a pleasant surprise. He's shown a good nose for the ball and being in the right position/IQ, excellent motor and athleticism.

For 2 games that won't instill great confidence in the fan base there have been 3.5 very pleasant surprises individually in the first two games imo

1- Darryls offensive ability and shooting effectiveness (spoiler alert very slim chance he's that pure from 3 all season)
2- Oso
3- Stevie Mitchell
.5- Tyler Kolek and his vision/passing ability. That gets a half because it was great and then not so good.

On the flip side there have been several not so pleasant surprises, which there always are going into a season with so many unknowns.
I won't list those because it's early in the season, plenty of time to change the narrative

As a squad the biggest thing that jumps out to me is that in Nevada smiths offense, which stresses metrics and values 3P attempts and layups/dunks we sure as heck haven't had a lot of dunks and made 3s. It's an interesting flex to try to install a heavy 3P shooting offense when you have a squad filled with kids that can't really shoot the 3 well but respect the process aina?

26/27 is the number of note
26-27% from 3 the first two games and 26-27 3P attempts in each of those two games.

Seems like that's going to be the key number to the season. If MU can shoot 32-35% from 3 they should be able to score in the 70s or better and win a decent amount of games if the defense holds up.
If they keep shooting 26-27% from 3 they will lose a lot of games

Second number of note is FT attempts- both games they had nearly 30 FT attempts which seems like a ton. That's great but I would imagine non sustainable as the competition gets better and cleaner, which is where the extra 3s come in to maintain the scoring.
I have no clue how many FT attempts per game MU averaged in the previous era, but I'd love a scooper to fill me in
