Free throws - 8 vs. 31
« on: February 09, 2008, 04:52:52 PM »
Did anyone else have the thought that the fact that we only had 8 FTs and ND had 31 might cost us the game? Harangody shoots 80% from the stripe and all of their big men can draw tons of fouls when they need to..it amazes me that their big man can shoot FTs better than our guards.

yep.  We got 5 points on free throws, and they got 24.  There's the game big time.

well the forced fouling at the end sort of blew this out of proportion, but notre dame's offense is all about attrition.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I have to say, I didn't see many questionable foul calls. We've got a couple players who are just hacks on defense -- Fitzgerald just plain shoved guys a couple times and Burke could have been called for a couple moving picks, but wasn't.

Win or loss, each game, this team has a propensity to pick up at least 3 "bad fouls" 30-40 feet away from the basket.

They don't usually hurt when they're committed, but at the end of the game, each player has one extra foul.  They hurt when Lazar fouls out of the WVU game with ample time on the clock, or when Crean has to sit down key players because they picked up their 4th with eight minutes to go.

This has been a recurring trend all season and it'd be nice to see it addressed before it limits our chances to compete in games that mean more and more down the stretch.
