It doesn’t make or break the program but it would be nice to see some recruiting wins, especially alleged priority players.

This one feels tough because he was in our back yard, was a statement recruit (ala Ellenson for Wojo), and we were in on him first. UVA didn't even offer until 2 weeks ago. Felt like he was coming until the last 24 hours.

Tony Bennett has personally recruited Bond for 2 years now, he just waited on the offer til Bond could visit there and Bennett could see him in person.

Shaka had a lot of ground to make up in this recruitment.

When it comes to a potential recruit and his decision (once it's over) you have to have the next man up mentality. It's simply beyond our control and doesn't require further analysis. Nonchalance on the court among the players wearing a MU uni? That's a different story Rocky.

Wonder if this an indication of Shaka's recruiting prowess or more an indication of the crappy image that Wojo-Dukiet put MU in for prospective recruits from MU's backyard. The 2022 recruiting class for Shaka is really crucial.

Mostly the latter I think. Our program became a bottom feeder and reaching NCAA and finishing 6th in the conference had more or less become a pipe dream. It’ll take some time to rebuild. There were zero inroads developed with Trimble and Bond before Shaka got here.

The individual pieces will be sorted out in due time, but at the end of the day I’m confident MU will put out a much better product going forward.

“I think Virginia really spoke for itself. I've been talking to Virginia since I want to say my sophomore year of high school but it's been real quiet so when I went down, it there spoke for itself. It really is an amazing program. Coach Bennett showed a lot of love. I got to go down and meet some of the guys, hang with some of the guys, so it was real cool. It really was amazing."

“Coach Bennett told me that he was going to offer me on my birthday, April 24, but he wanted to see me play in person so it'd be more heartfelt and everything, so actually see me playing games and not over streams. So, it was really cool. Really cool.”

That is not what happened.

Bond sucks because he was gettable relative to Trimble, and then next 3-4 Wisconsin guys will only end up at high majors as role players.

For last 5 years its felt like our actual Marquette season begins in July when TBT Golden Eagles show up and 40 year old Travis Diener does Travis Diener things
