It was an awful effort.  In fact the only time the tried hard was the last 3 minutes and they still had 3 boneheaded mistakes at the end.

Why in gods name would Crean not put the press on ND Earlier.  Why the hell did Ousmane Barro touch the rim on a three that was obviously 10 inches short!!!

McNeal make an open layup.

Barro make some bunnies.

Here is what I dont get.   Somehow when MU barely beats an crappy opponent everyone says "A win is a win" or "Win and Survive"
yet when this team loses a game it is "Good loss"  that is a complete double standard.  A loss is never good especially to a team we beat by 26 points earlier.   I dont know about you but Vegas oddmakers usually say that home court is worth 4 points, not 29!!!!!

This team has major chemistry problems and o wait Ooze just missed another layup.

CTWarrior

What kills is we did some things that we don;t usually do well like shoot threes well and we still lost.

It hurt that Barro had that goal-tending (he had two, as he nullified a Hayward hoop in the first half), but I don't blame him too much for that.  He thought the ball was going to be short of the rim and could be caught on the fly.

A lot of these bone-headed mistakes didn;t seem so bad at the time, because it didn't look like we would catch up.  The worst was McNeal's one on nobody miss that at the time would have cut the lead to 8 with less than 4 to go.  Didn't think it was a big deal at the time, but it sure turned out to be.

I think Barro purposely touched to rim and purposely missed the free throws.

I think McNeal purposely missed his layup.

I know Hayward purposely bounced the ball off of that ND player's heel

Please Nate Dogg, we lost at a ranked school's gym by 3 points.....sorry, I don't see it as devastating like you do.

An expected loss where we hung in there.  How's that K-State game going?

NateDoggMarq

Why would anybody expect to lose to a team that

1. We are 5 times more athletic than
2. and who we beat by 26 freaking points!!!!

Chico's Ousmane was being a moron you never touch the god damn rim during a shot!!!  And yes it was on purpose because he tried to touch the ball on its way down.

No McNeal didnt purposly miss the layup but he is a D-1 Scholarship player and should never ever ever ever miss that shot in that situation.  Missing that shot is the equivalent of a Quarterback Fumbling on a kneel down!!!

Chico I apologize for having such lofty expectations as winning two games in the tournament.  (THIS TEAM RETURNED EVERYBODY!!!!! and should have at least improved but they have regressed)

I have never been on the "Fire Crean" bandwagon but the fact that he refused to press this team makes me shake my head as some bad coaching as well as the lack of development of a big man

We had the ball and a chance to tie tie the buzzer. Hardly the sign of "major chemistry problems". Keep banging your head against the wall.

5X more athletic....hyperbole much?

Nate Dogg....I'll answer your question as soon as you can tell me how UCONN lost at Notre Dame.  How WVU lost there.  Etc.

Your saying that they are 29 points better at home... Puhleaseeeeee

muwarrior87

how many points better or we at home than on the road??

MU Avenue

Many here have come to expect poor play from Marquette and losses against teams that are considered its inferiors.

When MU is not blown out, it is almost as good as a win.

RIDICULOUS!

(Your top post here was good for some laughs. Well done.)

Get your head out of your ass and watch the damn game. First of all, he didn't touch the rim. He barely touched the bottom of the net when trying to reach for the ball that looked as if it was coming up short. But, he did in fact touch it which made it teh correct call. Oddly enough, the ND player he was locked up went up for the ball too. Interesting.

NateDoggMarq

I watched the game and I watched the play 5 times so far.  You should no better to touch the net as it is an automatic goaltending.

O I forgot that also touched a Hayward shot that was going in during the first halff

You don't actually believe that one 26 point home victory means we're actually 26 points better than ND, do you?

NavinRJohnson

Of course he doesn't, but pretending he does helps him fulfill the whiney little bi$%ch role, that is becoming increasingly popular on this board.

Hello My name is Naivin, and I was born as a poor black man who believed that Marquette was a bubble team this year even though we didnt lose anyone from a tourney team last year, and that we would be only so lucky to get to play a major BCS team like Florida, or Maryland in the first round of the tourney in a location that could only be qualified as a backyard for that team that we will play.

Wait my Bitch ass role must be my purpose!!!! I have a purpose!!!!

Unless I missed something, tomorrow is not Selection Sunday, and Marquette is not a bubble team. Nor will they be 5 weeks from now. If yo'd like to make it interesting, just let me know.

Raise your hand if you had @Notre Dame listed as a 'W' for Marquette when the schedule came out?
I doubt many, if any, of you did.

While I understand Nate's frustrations in that but for some foolish play earlier in the game MU could have had this one, let's not act as if this will go down as one MU "should have" won. Most people, including most MU fans, saw this game as a loss at the beginning of the season. And why shouldn't they ... Notre Dame is a solid team that's been unbeatable at home for two years now.

Could MU have won? Yes.
Should anyone be surprised they did not? Absolutely not.

If you actually believe that, then you know NOTHING about college basketball.

Again, the problem is one of managing expectations.  Most of us thought that this team returning everyone would not find us 6-5 at this point, out of the power 16, and likely out of the rankings on Monday.

Disagree.  The schedule has been frontloaded by and large.  3 of the bottom 4 teams we haven't played yet.  Our double dip games...2 of those 3 teams are in the top 3 in the league right now.

You can't just take things at random and say since X is back = Y.  Each year is different, the schedule is different, where you play is different, etc.

I'd be surprised if we did anything worse then 4-1 in our next 5 and I think we go 5-0

Million Dollar Dream

All that matters is that our team tried hard!!

Its not whether you win or lose its whether or not you had a good time, and our boys had a great time today.

bilsu

This was a game were breaks never went MU's way. Barro touched the net, which is goal tending. However, if the refs made a correct call it would of been an offensive foul on Harangody as he definately was bushing Barro in the back.
Notre Dame player kicks the ball and they call MU for an over and back. I have watched a few games now that are starting to make me think the refs do not like Marquette. The positive to the game was that MU never quit, James looked better and Fitz and Culliban starting hitting 3's. Most of all I hope we get another shot at Notre Dame in the Big east tournament. I still think MU is the better team.

Thats right they have just been very unlucky losing to L-Ville by 14 and 17, Losing to WVU by 14, Losing to UCONN by 14.
But thats right they are just really unlucky ::)

mviale

Louisville is probably a Top 5 team. Uconn is a semi-pro team.  WVU was a bad loss.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.
