Take the handcuffs off of DJ...
« on: February 09, 2008, 01:22:23 PM »
Last year we said DJ needs to play within the team concept and reel in his game.  For the most part, this year he's tried to play within the team and we're worse.  To be the best we can be, we need DJ to play aggressive and try to take these games over.  Sure he's gonna take some bad shots but i'd rather have that than a bad shot from Jerel or Fitz or mishandled ball by Barro, Trend, or Fitz!  Look at the last 5 minutes of the game today... without DJ, we lose by 20!

All that said, we played much better today and this game was really ours to win if we only hadn't had so many lapses.  Let's try to carry this type of play through the rest of the season.  Perhaps our "badness" peaked with UL on Monday and we're only gonna get better the rest of the way.

Last warrior - I agree 100% and I think crean does too, but he has been injured and I think he is getting better going into March
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

I agree that Dom was great late today. I'd love to see Crean tell him he has to go to the hole and score once or twice to start and gradually move his shot out. It seems when he starts hot, he stays hot, so let's make that start more likely. Also, the 10 points in the final 2:30 were great, but obviously would not have worked all game. We were down 3 on most of those possessions, and they played us in a tight man around the perimeter to prevent the tie. The rest of the game, they sagged, played zone, had the big goon in the middle, etc.
Exciting but disappointing finish. Let's go get SHU.
