a wild, unsubstantiated rumor to make this subject more interesting?

Maya Smart has been in Milwaukee now for a couple weeks and finds it 'wanting.'

Word is she wants her husband to look hard at another position in a more culturally sophisticated location.

Well, no shame in not being connected. Fact is no one on Scoop has any actual insight. At least you are honest about it!

No one? So BigDaddy didn't have any inside knowledge?

No one has inside knowledge, but it isn't rocket science to figure out what the best pathway forward for him in the NBA would be.

Duke?  NBA DL?

Hard for him to be an insider these days.

And even Big Daddy would have told you, with true Meat Eating humility, that his insight was flawed even in the best of circumstances and was becoming less so as time went by.

I think there's been an odd time random people do have an inside source here or there but there's no single poster who's a fly on the wall in the Al. Even if there was a person with insight this community generally $hits on inside knowledge till it's verified so theres not much incentive to share.

As an underclassman, unless you are guaranteed to go in the top-40, there is so much risk in leaving early (unless you are in poor academic standing and/or have zero interest in going to class).  In the NBA, many 2nd round picks go to foreign projects that have little chance of making the NBA, and teams rather not spend money on guaranteed roster spots.  In addition, if you do leave early, you want as much opportunity to go to an organization that will help you develop (in order to get paid more down the road).  Go to the wrong team as an UDFA, and you have little room to excel beyond that.

The fact Dawson is not even being listed in many mock drafts as even a 2nd Rounder gives little optimism that he'd find a strong opportunity this Summer.  Overseas opportunities have their own issues due to COVID.

The biggest concern regarding Dawson would have been him going into the transfer portal, which he hasn't.  With so many programs quickly filling spots, and Minnesota (with McNeilly) acquiring A&M talent (likely), the odds grow by the day he returns next year (especially with a staff as proven with bigs as Shaka and Co.).

No one has inside knowledge, but it isn't rocket science to figure out what the best pathway forward for him in the NBA would be.

This is round 1 of musical chairs.  Round 2 comes when players start withdrawing from the draft.

My guess is the experienced players will make up the starters and rotation players early in the season. Our league is too tough to do otherwise.

As this group of freshman gain experience in practice, gain strength and learn the speed of the game at the D1 level they will start to work their way in to the rotation.

Herm is right.  The rotation in November and early on will come from DJ, Garcia, Lewis, Oso, with the three transfers.  We'll see some freshmen working in as the season progresses and perhaps two redshirts.  The good news, Marquette will have enough depth so the team won't run out of gas in February and March.

I haven't seen Elliot in any of the recent vids or photos. Maybe my super sleuthing is bad, but that seems like a tell?
I've also noticed this.

MU's IG account has pictures and videos from a team outing to a go cart place. Greg's story on his personal IG account is also at the same go cart place.

If that happens it's either really bad or really great news. Usually it happens the opposite way, big rotation during the non-con season and tightened rotations during conference season with reliable vets.

After watching several clips of O-Max, hard for me he doesn't start. Lead-pipe cinch to start if Garcia doesn't come back; maybe doesn't start but often plays starter minutes if Garcia does come back.

Agree too. Also was told some inside info or intel on Monday and for the First time was told not to post it on Scoop. At least until after some time or until the statute of limitations runs out again.

I will go with that, but I wouldn't be surprised Kolek and Joplin's spots rotate alot

With the roster currently constructed as it is although Garcia is in the NBA Draft Portal I will go with what Ben Steele said too.

I would not be surprised if out of this group somebody surprises the scoopers and might become a significant player, or starter, ie. Ellis, Akanno, Mitchell or Jones. Practice should be interesting this summer and fall.

The really nice thing about all 13 scholarships being used and there being so much redundancy at a couple of positions is that whoever does emerge as the starter will have earned it.

I fully expect Mitchell to be a player. Kam as well. Don't know enough about Ellis to comment.  If Dex becomes a significant player...I will absolutely be surprised.

JakeBarnes

Not really a starting lineup thing, but nice to see the incoming recruits amped about each other. Joplin's story has a shoutout to Stevie being in ESPN top 100 and also a good convo with Kam. Shaka is preaching relationships-seems like that is trickling down into how the players are interacting with each other too.

Really excited to see what this group can do together.

I bit hard on the Dex highlights vids last year and will double down and say he contributes this year. Also predicting contributions from Oso. Maybe just wishful thinking.

I agree on Oso for sure. He looks ready and fits this system well
