I'm pretty much a nobody on this board, but I've been around for a long time and my former roommate is an active and strongly contributing alum, has connections to the team, and also Brookfield Central High School. (Tower knows who I'm referring to; my freshman year roommate.)

So, take this however you wish: "Hearing from good sources that David Joplin will be transferring to MU once Texas releases him."

That would be excellent.

Thanks for the info! Would be a fantastic addition and would love to have a local kid on the team.

mumi27

I choose to believe you and I am glad for it. Thank you for the information, would love this to happen. Joplin looks like he can play and it never hurts to grab locally either

That would be superb news Mug.  Ty for sharing.

McCormick 7th floor.  84-85.

Thanks for the info. It would be awesome if that comes to pass.

I disagree with this analysis. You are a great contributor.

Which one of you two were in 712 and would incessantly tap something on the floor?

cheebs09

Thanks for the info! For some reason I thought he had his release already. Maybe why things have been pretty quiet with the Texas recruits.

Ha! Those were two ROTC guys (one of whom remains a close friend to this day), so they were likely doing their drills!

So humbled that I know that your comment isn't true. Thanks.

Side question, but does anyone know why Joplin had several high major offers (UT, GTown, Butler, Minnesota, Mizzou), but neither Wojo nor Gard offered. Was he a late-bloomer, or perceived as a bad fit for the MU and UW@Madison systems?

franklinjerry

To split hairs he would be committing, not transferring. Hope to see confirmation soon. Sounds like a good fit.

GoldenWarrior11

Good enough for me.  Let's go!

Wisconsin landed 6-7 F Matthew Mors from SD pretty early in the recruiting cycle.  Probably didn't want two similarly sized players in the same class.

As for Wojo, I have no clue.

brewcity77

Hoping your sources are right! FWIW I've heard very encouraging things about Joplin's interest in Marquette going back even before Smart was hired. Feels like a good chance the previous staff not offering will be a serendipitous mistake in our favor.

Gut feeling, 60/40 he ends up here. The 40 would likely be Mizzou.

I like the kid.  Maybe I'm overreacting but I think he would be an enormous get for MU.

Wojo had burned every bridge imaginable in Wisconsin?

Same can be said for Wojo

Here a bit more input from my old roomie that I can't verify, but do trust: "He [Joplin] was disappointed that Marquette didn't pursue him. Shaka called him before the deal was even done to bring him along to MU. He hasn't said whether he will switch or not but I think there is a good chance he will. Great kid btw."

Again, who knows. And as many other point out, teenagers can sometimes be a bit whimsical.
