Oso is the glue for next year's team as he slides into the starting 5.  In high school he was a state champion who was able to dominate in the championship game with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.  However during the regular season of his junior year he averaged a more pedestrian 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks before blowing up over the summer as he got to show his talents in less structured pick up games.  Further his junior YouTube videos showed a total team player who was an excellent passer and did whatever was needed to help the team as he grew into his paws.  He's comfortable playing with his back to the basket but also has range all the way to 3 and is a perfect 5 for Shaka's more up tempo style.

He appears to be a team player who is both a very intelligent person and player and very mature in his interviews.

He provides us the ideal 5 to play along Lewis and Garcia who can play the 4/5 while both getting a lot of opportunities to score.  Unlike Aidoo who was sold by Wojo as playing like Henry Ellenson and/or a point forward at times we need someone who will focus on playing with his back to the basket, block shots and rebound.

I expect him to continue to add weight and strength and be a glue guy for next year's team who won't demand the ball but can be an effective scoring option in half court sets and will stuff the stat sheet while making everyone else's job easier.

Theo John gave us 4 points, 2 blocks and 5 fouls a game.  I expect Oso to be a smarter player who won't constantly be in foul trouble but be an equally effective rim protector.

Any idea what his current weight is?

(Just a question, not an attack)
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Can't be more than 200 pounds. He is s string bean and I really didn't notice him gaining weight over the year.  Well, it was tough to see through his warm ups, since he didn't hardly play, then got injured after he actually played two minutes in one game.

Key to the team, a player who hardly played, I don't think so.  I cannot fathom him going up against Watson, Obiagu, Nze, Wahab if he returns and others outweighing him by 50 to 60 pounds.

Now that Aidoo is gone, Shaka knows where he is deficient in the center position.  I look for a transfer portal player.

He looked like he had a loooonggg way to go in his limited minutes this year. The injury did not help.

I'd wager that neither of these things turns out to be true.

I bet that until he sees improvement from Carton - especially in the turnover department - Shaka has concerns about the point guard position, as well.

Probably bad wording, but he knows.  Plenty of quality bigs, whether PF or center in the portal and probably few more to enter soon. If he can get one to commit, Oso will be nice reserve to give others rest for a few minutes a game.  Thats about it.

Goose

I am also going with Goose.

Oso played 35 minutes last season. Theo doesn't get much love but if Oso contributes half of what Theo has the past couple seasons it would be big. Your second choice for glue must either be Jose or Dex?
Goose is there room on the DJ train?

can't win without a point guard...

good to see kam jones sticking with MU...add lewis, elliott, akanno, oso, dj, dawson, and jose at this point.  i'm not convinced that's an ncaa team just yet.  we'll see what shaka can do in the near future to get the roster there.

Losing Aidoo, makes this team rather small.  I would think MU still would be 9th or 10th right now for next year.  Needs 2 players that could start next year, thats how
I see it.  Akanno, Oso, Jose right now are just bodies, hopefully, a summer in Milwaukee will help them grow as players.

Dawson Rental

Maybe Akanno will be the key.  We need to see if he looks good in any summer videos.

Last summer, every Scooper thought he was an NBA player then, but saw him play last year he looked totally lost out there.  Not the same player when the
real lights came on, for sure.

I haven't given up hope for Dexter. I think COVID knocked him down harder than we will ever know. I could see him excelling in Smart's style of play.

Covid could definitely be an issue, and coaching can make a huge difference as well. I'd love to see Dexter stay so we see what he can do.

Could he apply for a medical red shirt if it still is affecting him? I know he has sat out a lot already.

In addition to most of this post being silly because nobody knows what we have in Oso - including Shaka and even Oso - the bolded sentence in your last paragraph is an outright lie.

Unless Theo's 8 ppg really equals 4, and his 2.8 fouls per game really equals 5.

When you have to make stuff up to make a point, your point pretty much sucks. And when the alternative facts you choose to present can be disproven in about 5 seconds ... well, that's silly too.
