BTN analyst Ben Brust and former badger weighs in:

https://twitter.com/benbrust/status/1375478625676443648?s=21

If that is the tweet I think it is, a decent clap back would be number of current Badgers in the NBA, or just relink the Evan Flood article.

just be smart about the clap backs. Some MU fans talking trash about the Bucky program when they went to two straight final fours just a few years ago (and beat the unbeatable Kentucky). We need to stop living off 1977.

Why?

Porter Moser went 12 years without an NCAA tournament win. Did that mean he was destined to go another 12 years without an NCAA tournament win? Jay Wright went 10 years without an NCAA tournament win. Did that mean he was destined to go another 10 years without an NCAA tournament win?

Because there are so many teams.
To win all you need are a few good players and a little luck.
Why do the no names win so many golf tournament's?
Because there are so many of them.

For sure, also, it usually isn't worth it since we just get shouted down since a lot of other schools have a lot more fans.

He's just pissed he was wrong. He was beating the Moser drum pretty loudly.

1000%%.  And clearly Shaka is not one of "his guys" in terms of information leaks.

Shaka Smart was the second name Goodman brought up on his podcast from last Saturday, one day after the firing of Wojo.

Then I stand corrected. Everything I heard from Goodman was focusing on Moser. But I don't listen to everything he puts out there.

Yeah, I just don't get the Twitter wars with other fans. When their school is five times as big as ours, we are going to lose even if we are right.

Should stuck with Wojo then, no?

Sure, you can go with that.

I was more about that what has happened doesn't necessarily prove what will happen.

But if you want to think hiring Shaka was the exact same as keeping Wojo, it's a free world.

Watched Around The Horn on ESPN.  All talking heads essentially said Shaka was getting fired.  They did zero research, know nothings...

I mean, he might have gotten fired.  This just worked out for all parties involved.

That's kind of the point I was trying to make. I wish I could find the gif that would effectively illustrate my "Well..."

No, Shaka didn't get fired. I think the athletics department at UT is very, very happy today that they didn't have to do that. But, I think they probably would have.

I agree that this might turn out to be a very rare Win-Win-Win situation.

Sounds like Texas is trying fire back in the media after Shaka undercut Texas boosters and made their program look inferior.  Sorry, but you got "Hooked Again" Longhorns.  You're almost insufferable as Indiana fans

Trust me, UW and BE coaches are not jumping around with excitement over the hire. Their jobs just became much more difficult. Going into next season I believe we have the second best coach in the BE and top dog is awfully good. IMO, that is the perception I care the most about. MU is instantly looked at differently by their peers.

The consensus seems to be that he was going to get another season, but opted against spending the year on a scorching hot seat when MU was offering him a fresh start.

Perhaps.  Kevin Willard doesn't get enough credit.  Ewing might quickly jump.  His incoming recruiting class is quite formidable and if he can get his kids to play defense consistently like they did in the conference tourney, Georgetown will be back.  Regardless, MU should now be no lower than middle of the pack in the Big East from now on unless there's a significant amount of seniors or players leaving for NBA.

I totally get your point.  My disappointment was more around the four panelists offering nothing about MU at all.  Made it sound like MU isn't a decent job.

I looked the panel today.  Shelburn and Adande are NBA writers.  Cowlishaw is a football guy who has never offered anything compelling about basketball, especially college, whenever Ive seen him on.  Leaving the Big12 for a smaller private school up north is a snap negative to him, without a doubt.  And Blackinstone is a smart guy who I respect, but he's more of a sports culture/general sportswriter personality.  None of them are plugged in and know anything.

If it was not a good job Shaka never would take it. It is obviously a very good job. Shaka will be loaded for bear. He is getting a great opportunity at MU. This dude will work his tail off and get it done.

Brando's reaction is that of most
Hoops people and " casual " fans ...

It makes MU relevant again.  No hire is perfect... and recent lack of NCAAT wins is a concern

But let's say in next ten years
Smart takes MU to 8/10 NCAAs and
A Ff ... and in a down year wins the
NIT ( as he has done in last 10 )

People will want to build a monument

First, this immature tweet doesn't belong in a discussion of NATIONAL perception. Some worthwhile things have come out of Mundelein, IL (including an almost soup-poisoned Cardinal), but Ben Brust is proving not to be one of them.

Secondly, Shaka doesn't need bulletin board material to beat UW, but thanks nonetheless Benny.
