No. 16 Marquette (16-5) at No. 22 Notre Dame (17-4)

In relatively quiet fashion, Notre Dame has become virtually unbeatable at home. Last Saturday, the Fighting Irish ran their winning streak at the Joyce Center to 33 games with a victory over DePaul, and they followed that up with an impressive 26-point road win over a previously surging Seton Hall. I'm not sure how many casual fans realize it, but Luke Harangody is the runaway favorite for Big East Player of the Year. He leads the conference in scoring (20.4 ppg), is second in rebounds (10.1 rpg) and 10th in foul shooting (79.5 percent). Marquette spanked the Irish by 26 on Jan. 12, but that was in Milwaukee, and the Golden Eagles have since suffered three losses by 14 or more points, including Monday's 71-57 defeat at Louisville. Dominic James has been playing with a sprained right wrist the last two weeks, and to be fair he had a bad case of the flu on Monday. But it's not a good sign when the maladies of a single player can throw a team off its game so badly.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think we are going to play ND very tough and be in the game with 5 minutes to go.  If we can pressure their guards and control the tempo, I think we can pull of the upset.  As you know, I think our road woes thus far have been overstated, with the problem being more the opponent than the location.  While we cannot stop Harangody, I still think we match up well with these guys.  We have to avoid another 10-2 deficit to start the game, however.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

Who shows up on Saturday, Dr. Jekyl or Mr. Hyde?  If Jekl shows up we win by 10.  If Hyde shows uo we lose by 10 (or more).

That kind of spread wouldn't surprise me one bit. Speaking of spreads, I tried to find the current line on tomorrow's game, but, not being a gambler, I've got no idea where to look....

Ahoya06

I never bet on Marquette games, but I was curious too. Looks like an official spread hasn't been posted yet.

They have to lose at home sometime. I think we've got a good chance to beat ND at home considering how well we played them last time. Additionally, I think that the poor play our team has shown lately also has to end at some point. Hopefully that time is Saturday.

Ending two very impressive home streaks this year would be pretty fun.  I bet it would get some pretty decent attention too.

A win at ND would be the sweetest of the year.   Sweeter than Wiscy, sweeter than ND at home.   Unless our guards completely dominate their guards again, we are going to lose, however.

Here's to DJ having a coming out party. He has a lot to play for in his home state tomorrow.

I agree - we have a good chance to beat ND - again.  It seems to be match ups with our team more than location.

When you talk about matchups, it seems like that the way Marquette matchups against teams is the number one indicator of how they play.  I know this seems like a no brainer and a vague comment, but it seems like they are unable to outplay a tough matchup or that they lack some sort of "variable" that can over come an unfavorable matchup.

Big Papi

If Brey wants to try to run with us like he did the first game than I like our matchup.  If he tries to slow the pace down than we need to hit the 3s to win.

I'm going to get in trouble for saying this but, this team reminds me of Rex Grossman.  There is good Rex, and thier is bad Rex and we have no idea which one is going to show up.  Unfortunatley we don't have the defense that Rex had though :(

mu_hilltopper

Couple places have it posted.  MU is a 5 point dog.
