The Lens

Fortunate enough to be able to attend in person.  It's one I'll never forget.

I'm really glad I went, seeing the seniors was cool. But it kinda sucks.  You can't stand up.  Mask police everywhere, so if your beer is not on your lips you're in trouble*.  Can't congregate in concourses.  So no catching up with ppl.

I don't begrudge any of those things but I won't push to go to a Bucks game until it's normal.  Even a big playoff game, I'd rather watch outside in the Deer District.

But the best part and the part I'll remember forever was with 4 seconds to go Wojo pulled the seniors and the entire arena stood up (against the rules) and cheered and for a minute it was like unnatural carnal knowledge you Covid. That felt great and felt normal.

* (I'm 100% in on masks but you're pretty spaced out at Fiserv and putting it back on after very sip of your beer / soda / water is just annoying.  I get why the rule is in place, I'll probably just stay away until it's normal.  IOW, don't @ me)

WTF is the reasoning behind "you can't stand up"?

muhoops1

I was able to go as well.  Couldn't get the Bucks AP to order my drinks unless I used a link from MU Athletics, but if that was my biggest gripe I'll take it.

Students booed Wojo during intros and chanted "Fire Wojo" on their way down the escalators.

Pretty darn good defensive effort by MU.  Theo walks on to the court with 4 Fouls.  Unreal.  DJ Carton is ultra quick IRL.

The Lens

I think MU just did exactly what the Bucks are doing bc that's what the city signed off on. MU used of the Bucks safety messaging.

This is why I won't be doing anything like this until we are back at normal.  I REALLY want to do all of these things, but the restrictions would suck a lot of the fun out of it for me.

Just curious Lens—do you have a crazy # of points? If not, how were you selected to get tickets?

Amazingly the students seem smarter than a lot of Scoop.

Not really.  You post here

I know, right? A few Scoopers actually think whether or not Marquette beat Xavier last night was going to affect whether or not Wojo's gonna be retained or fired. Not so smart!

Same here. Just doesn't seem like much fun with the restrictions they have in place.

I hope next season looks more normal. If it's not I probably won't renew my tickets.

The Lens

I didn't really notice Wojo booed.  You heard something but it wasn't super clear.  What was clear was there were ZERO applause for him. I think by and large ppl were just so grateful to be back and didn't think it was the time to boo.

Yeah.  I'm pretty sure.  Tip off was at 8pm. And Senior Night stuff started around 7:40-7:45 ish.  He was part of the receiving line for players.  Parents were in the stands.  Koby's dad Zoomed in.

Mr. Nielsen

The Senior Nighg ceremony and starting line ups was live on the You Tube channel. I thought the ceremony was done very well.

I thought MU did a great job with Senior night.  It's also clear people LOVE Ike Eke.  He's like D Wade, Bo Ellis & Markus rolled into one.

It's very sad Ikechukwu could not get heathy.  Terrific kid.

I'm glad you were there.
I am sorry to hear there was booing. This was not the time or place, Senior Night, the only game with fans in a year, it's about the players and not the coach.

Given it was the only opportunity it sounds like it was the perfect time and place.

Stop the booing? In a results based job, win when it matters most.

Agree by chance was on the plane sitting next to him when he first came to Milwaukee. Terrific, nice and kind kid.
