If the Big East Tournament started today, as the 10th seed, we'd play Providence in R1. We're 1-1 against them, with the loss coming in OT. Definitely beatable.

Then we'd play Creighton in R2. They're overrated, we already beat them once and lost a close one to them in the rematch. Doable.

Then we'd play the UConn-StJ/DeP winner in the semis. We just had a terrible game against UConn but our first game against them was close; we'd be a big underdog but it wouldn't be impossible. St. John's, we're 1-1 with 2 close games; a toss-up. DePaul ain't beating StJ and UConn, so not worth discussing. (And good thing, cuz they're our nemesis.)

Then we'd play the winner of the top half of the bracket. If it's Nova, that's the one team that has dominated us. But maybe somebody upsets them earlier. If so, there isn't another team in that part of the bracket we can't beat.

That's right, my friends ... we're practically Indy bound! And wouldn't the rooting-against-Marquette Scoopers' heads just explode?!?!?!

OK, I'm just having some Sunday Funday fun here. Having said that ... this season of all seasons, some crazy stuff could happen at the Garden.

Hard to imagine anything much crazier than Theo, DJ, Dawson & Co. cutting down the nets at MSG.

This fantasy world is more attractive to me than many others that are making the rounds so I'm all in!

MU will lose in the first round of the BET by 10+.

This will be perfect, as they'll have the rest they need for their VEGAS 16 run.

Depending on opponent, I might be very open to a friendly wager.

Although I don't see it happening, I appreciate your optimism and I would love nothing more than to feast on crow.

GooooMarquette

Optimism, sarcasm, whatever. It's just nice reading something positive here.

We got this.

Mostly having fun, but I do believe the tournament is wide open this year. Any team can beat any other; that has not been true very often in recent seasons.

Even though clearly meant to be sarcasm, there is little doubt some on this board secretly believe this is possible because living in a fantasy land is easier than admitting what a laughing stock MU bb has become.

its just for fun to have unrealistic hope they could win the bet. the games would be boring to me if i didnt have a pie in the sky hope they could do it.

brewcity77

I had the same hope every year when Buzz and Crean were here. We never made a Final then, so I don't really see how it's more unrealistic under Wojo than how unattainable it's been for the past decade and a half.

Yep. A team that is good enough to beat Bucky, Creighton and UNC is certainly good enough to make a run through the Big East tournament. That doesn't even necessarily have to mean we actually beat Nova or Creighton. It may just mean that we have to beat a team that beat them.

I am not expecting it, but it certainly is a possibility, and a reason to watch.

No, we likely won't win a BET just like we didn't before, but we'll have the same one-off chance we had before.

Yes this exact team has the same chance to win the Big East tournament as any team we've had in the last decade. Please.

I'm not sure the Bucky win is much of a feather in the cap anymore. UNC is good but very inconsistent and still a bubble team.

No, don't need to be drunk to know that we haven't won a tournament game in 2,895 days. 7 years, 11 months and a day. And since we ain't sniffing the tournament, that clock will continue to roll. Hang a banner.
