Next year instead of hiring a karate instructor maybe coach should hire
someone to teach the team how to shoot. BASIC FUNDAMENTALS. That being said I beleive there is bad chemistry on this team. IMO Burke,Trend, and Hazel
seem to be a MAJOR distraction.

Honest questions, both.

What is going on with Hazel?

Big Papi

First of all Trend is a senior so yes he will be gone.

Second, why do you say that Hazel is going to transfer?  Because he doesn't get any playing time this year?  Why do we have to assume that anyone who doesn't play much their first year will automatically transfer.  There are lots of high major programs where freshmen receive little or no time and never transfer.  It actually is a good thing as it means that we have a lot of depth.  Hazel will be a very good player at MU its just not his time right now.

If you're a big on this team struggling to get playing time...I think it might be safe to assume it's not a good sign.

Hazel was a last second recruit who had no idea what he was getting into. I do not beleive he came all the way to milwaukee to ride the bench all year. He stated he just wanted to play in the big east, but he never came to milwaukee to check out the program. With hazel and Burke both from N.Y. and neither getting much playing time you can bet they are not happy with the situation.

Hazel has also broken curfew on at least one occasion and hasn't shown the right attitude in practices according to my sources.  We'll see if he sticks around or not. I'm hoping so and then giving James or one of the other guys an academic scholarship which is allowed by the NCAA to make space for another scholarship athlete.

I agree, a very telling sign.

Serious question...is breaking curfew a serious transgression? I mean, these are college kids!! I'd be disappointed if they DIDN'T break curfew a couple times a year.

But they're not your average college kid. D1 athletics provides an awfully powerful microscope, fair or not.

Slippery slope, especially in this program.  I know these guys are 18-22 years old but its not like Crean doesn't lay out exactly what the expectations are.  Its not that hard to follow the rules.  Besides the one thing no one seems to complain about with Crean is his players are academically sound and solid citizens, so if Pat busted one of Crean's rules I don't see any reason why he shouldn't suffer the consequences.

Serious enough for coaches that a guy like John Calipari who no one would consider to be a stickler for rules, issued a public warning to Robert Dozier that if he breaks a Memphis team rule and is out at a bar after ncurfew again he will kicked off the team.  And Dozier is a two year starter averaging 10 PPG and 7 RPG, who was a 4 star top 100 recruit.

It's one thing for normal college students to do it, right or wrong its completely another for a student athlete to do it, and its rare to find a coach that tolerates it.

Oh, I agree. But curfew? I understand if it was a DUI or underage drinking or something (although underage drinking would seem to be a forgiveable mistake), but I would hope curfew would just be an extra set of sprints or something.

The Lens

Why all the rumblings of Burke & Hazel.  What have they done that would intimate they are cancers?

Are you sure Hazel was a last second recruit.  I thought Hazel's name with MU was out there for quite a while before he commited.  Also Saunders was the last recruit to commit.

It was a quick process.  MU watched him in some AAU tournaments over July and August, offered him a scholarship in mid-September, he visited the last week of September and committed two days after the visit.
