From Seth Davis in The Athletic:

Butler at Marquette (-5½), 5 p.m. ET, FS1. Goodness, Marquette is in some kind of tailspin. The same team that beat Wisconsin and Creighton in December is 4-7 in the Big East after dropping three straight, including at home to DePaul and St. John's. The Golden Eagles shot 27.3 percent from 3 in those three losses, and they are last in the Big East in defensive efficiency. It seems unlikely, then, that Marquette will cover a spread this big against a Butler team that is also 4-7 in the league but also just added a good player in Bo Hodges, a 6-5 senior transfer from East Tennessee State who was ruled eligible by the NCAA two hours before the Bulldogs' home game against Xavier on Saturday. Butler lost the game, but Hodges had 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes off the bench. The pick: Butler

That first line is the Wojo era in a nutshell.

Ugh.

Going with MU for the sole reason that the have to cover one eventually

Fully expecting a Butler win.  The excuses are lined up already - tired from Sunday, Lewis out, bad matchup.  Figure Dodd's already started with these, probably a few more.

The question is how will MU lose - blowing a large late lead or rallying back from a big 1st half deficit only to lose on poor late game play execution.

Point

I think they win this one today. Two bad teams, but I have confidence we are a better bad team.

I was just thinking about Butler and how I said a couple of years ago that a very good Butler was great for BE, but law of averages (coaching changes) that Butler would revert to being Butler pre Stevens era. I hope I am wrong because BE cannot afford another program to slip further down the food chain.

Is the game available on FoxSports Go?

I don't know about tired from Sunday (I do not subscribe to the tired legs theory) but that is a very short amount of time to scout and prepare for a team.

Lewis out is legitimate.

This is not a bad matchup. On paper, Marquette matches up well and is the better team.

Even with Lewis out and the short turnaround, Marquette should win this game. We'll see if it happens.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Take the points! I'm going hard on Cain but MU has 4 basketball players without Lewis.

I got in at MU -3.5. Think that's good value. MU takes some frustrations out on Butler in this one.

Dish

I'm in on the over 127.5 on FD.

I hear goose, we were not the better of two bad teams against DePaul.

Goose - you were sure right about two bad teams.  I was one missed three by the best 3pt shooter in the BE away from being right in an epic Wojo treat collapse.

Wow they suck....

Butler was a top 5 team most of last season and ended up in the top 25 with a NET of 19.

The Bulldogs are now a young team with a lot of promising players who are getting good experience and have a good pipeline coming in . Should be back in the upper echelons of the league next couple of years.

It must be devastating to you that your alma mater won the game. I hope you recover.
