The Big East

Will need to see the fine print of the deal .  Most likely has a player option for a second year. Otherwise , he took a marginally better deal than he could get with the Bucks in a much higher tax state so it nets to the same.

Lennys Tap

Love Wesley, will always root for him. Hope his new team goes 0-82, though.

GooooMarquette

At this point in his career, I suspect Wesley is more after a championship than the money. I don't want the Lakers to win another title, but it would be sweet to see Wesley with a ring.

David Alridge said he was told that the chance to start was too good to pass up for Wesley.

can't believe wesley is 34 already?  gezzus where did those years go??

he couldn't get $4 mil?  from the bucks?  win a ring? with milwaukee & the freak?

$3.6 means he'll clear about $1.5 in cally
yes it's good money, but ready for the traffic and the brown outs.  quality of life gonna be a little...different

I guess all your negatives did not matter to him. He will be loving living in Manhattan Beach!

I hope by different you mean better. He's a single guy in his early 30s with 8 figures in the bank. Losing a few hundred K this year won't appreciably affect his day to day decision making and I'm sure the weather more than makes up for it. California isn't perfect, but it's no mystery why it's the frequent spot of people for whom money isn't a concern and without question a far better place to reside during the majority of the time of year that the NBA is playing. I think he can stomach a bit of traffic in his $100K car in exchange for looking at palm trees on his commute to Staples instead of the grey skies and dirty snow of Milwaukee in Jan

LOL that a whole generation really thinks this way. California fucking rules and also he's a multi-millionaire.

The Sultan

Honestly he wasn't all that great with the Bucks at the end of the year.  I doubt they were going to throw more money at him.

When you already are a multimillionaire, and when you are all about maximizing your shot at a title, higher taxes on a tiny percent of your net worth mean nothing.

Congrats to Wes for signing with the defending champs, a team with the second-best player in basketball history (who is still near the top of his game), one of the 5 best players in the NBA today, the 6th man of the year and several other good role players.

There was no other team he could have signed with to give him as high a probability of realizing his goal.

Oh, and millions upon millions of people love living in southern California.

Wes has earned almost $110,000,000 in salary alone in his career.  Amazing.

They have 4+ to Connaughton, who was almost unplayable in the bubble.

My guess? Wes would rather not play for Budenholzer after getting benched down the stretch against Miami, when he was the only capable defender on Jimmy.

He wasn't very good against Butler. That's my point. He can't be a defensive stopper if he can stop the guy who needs to be stopped.

Wes was very effective on Butler. Effective to the point that the Heat were trying to pick him up this offseason, but the cards didn't fall quite right.

I know Crowder moved to Phoenix, but how cool would that have been to have JFB, Jae and Wesley on the Heat together?

It honestly would have been a dream come true. The Heat's run this year was a joy to watch!
