Paul really didn't play poorly today - made a lot of great shots. But Alcaraz was sensational.

If Carlos keeps playing like that, especially if he serves a little better, nobody's gonna beat him.

Tien has played well but he's only done what he's supposed to do:  beat players that are not as good as him.  His next match against Khachanov will be a test because that's exactly the type he has trouble with:  Big Serve / Powerful baseline.  I predict several more Americans out in R4.  No way Paul beats Alcaraz, Medvedev will beat Tiafoe, Etcheverry beats Michelson and Khachanov has a very good chance to beat Tien.  Leaves only Shelton.

I loved watching tennis during the Big 3 Era, with Rafa being by far my fave. And Alcaraz has been my favorite player since Rafa no longer could play at a championship level.

I don't root for players because they are from one country or another. But sure, for those who think it's important that U.S. players do well, I get the enthusiasm now.

Shelton certainly has a chance against Carlos, but I think he'll be too mistake-prone to beat the best player in the world on Tuesday.

If you're Shelton, you have to be thinking to yourself that this will be the best opportunity I'll ever have to beat Alcaraz.  Especially because these courts are quick which should result in more free points on his serve.  Now we all know Ben is toast if Carlos has his A game, but he hasn't faced a player with Shelton's power.  From what I've seen, Carlos has yet to go full throttle on his 1st serve.  Although I did see a replay of him going medieval on a crosscourt forehand.  I'm surprised the ball survived, it was seriously mashed.

Yes. He needs to add some pop on his serve.  Eala does as well on the women's side

Wow....I guess Sabalenka/Noskova was a barnburnner.  Noskova is no one hit wonder.  She's gonna be a really good player for the next decade with the potential of multiple slams.  Tremendous serve and power groundies. I think Sabalenka has won her last 10 gs tiebreakers.

Ya ..they need to either start the matches earlier or move the 2nd afternoon match to Armstrong.  Granted, there were three longer than normal matches, but starting a QF at past 11pm local time is a bit much.
