FAA is going HEAVY on his forehead right now. We're talking 95 mph bombs.  He has to capitalize and find a way to win this set.

MuggsyB

I dunno if he can keep it up, but that was a medieval set for FAA.  He's bludgeoning his serve, along with the forehead.  He took the racket out of Sinner's hands.  Supreme power tennis.

Steroids.

Great effort from FAA.  Sinner is just too consistent.

I wouldn't say "FAA" and "bombs" unless we were talking about Bush's five point plan

Maybe it's me, but I'm not a fan of coaching at all during matches.  I wouldn't mind coaching between sets, or even games, but in many situations players are looking to the coaches for instructions or guidance between points.  It's like a security blanket I suppose, but I don't see the net benefit of it.  In fact, I think it leads to over coaching and players breaking down more mentally.  It's totally bizarre to me.  Players are not winning or losing matches based on coaching between points during the match.  Or likely coaching between sets or games for the matter.

Although I agree that it probably is a net negative for the athletes, why does it matter to you? As long as it doesn't make the matches materially longer - and I don't think it does - why should anybody care that they look at their coaches for 2 seconds between points?

It bothers me a bit because there is an over emphasis on the coaches. It's just totally unnecessary imo.  The truth is during the course of a match they have very little impact.

Tough match thus far.  Both women are playing really tight.  Anisimova has more power, but Sabalenka has a better serve.  Amanda needs to calm down a bit, and get more 1st serves in.  She also needs to find the right time to pull the trigger during the rallies.  She's going too close to the lines.

That's unfortunate.  Anisimova had her C+ game today.

Sabalenka has won 19 straight tiebreakers.  That's a crazy stat.

MuggsyB

Wow is Mary Carillo bad.  Total abomination.  She should never be hosting a trophy celebration again.  And no, I'm not being hyperbolic.

Just another American embarrassing our nation.  We must not allow this to happen.  Anisimova should be sent to Gitmo and fed to dogs

Your conclusion is correct, which is why it was silly of you to rail against it earlier.

It looks like the roof is shut?  It's not raining.  WTF?

MuggsyB

They completely fked this up.  Probably because of the security needed for Trump.  The crowd will be about 1/2 full for the 1st set.  Totally inexcusable.

MuggsyB

Strong 1st set for Carlos.  Hopefully be keeps unloading his forehead with this kind of power and precision.

Sinner has picked it up and Alcaraz lost focus.  He's not gonna win the long rallies.  Attack mercilessly with the serve and forehead.

What happened to the non celebrity fans was beyond unacceptable.  I believe the lowest price ticket was like $1500 for this match.  The seats in the lower bowl were like 10-15K.  Imagine sitting out there on line and missing the first set and 45 mins?  That can't happen and the preparation was a mickey mouse operation.

MuggsyB

These guys are absolutely incredible.  Insane court coverage.

Alcaraz goes semi-medieval in the 3rd.  He must remain focused and continue to throttle the ball with impunity.

MuggsyB

VAMOS!!!!

OSCURIDAD!!!

Carlos served heavy and pummeled the ball on the forehead.  I'm glad he took my advice to heart.
