It finally happened.   Two members of my fire department have tested positive for COVID.   Two stations temporarily closed for deep cleaning.

I predicted months ago that if members of my department caught COVID, it would be off duty, as we have OCD when it comes to PPE on our alarms.

A wedding reception for one of our co-workers.   3 confirmed, 8 in isolation.


As of 19:45, EDT, 5 confirmed, 22 in isolation.

Of the 40 who were quarantined as of Thursday, 35 were able to return to duty already.   Waiting on test results for the others.   8 tested positive, one symptomatic.


So, bullet mostly dodged.    Hopefully, wisdom gleaned.

College professors are signing letters and petitioning to have all college classes virtual this fall.
3 More MSU athletes testing positive.
Courts rule she hasn't overstepped her boundaries.
Republicans trying to use a Michigan constitutional loophole to strip her of her emergency powers anyway.
B1G rumors blaming her for single handedly stopping Big 10 football.
Theaters and bowling alleys in the southern 2/3 of the state saying it isn't fair that theaters and bowling alleys in relatively quiet COVID areas get to open while the ones in hot spots can't.   

The joys and challenges of being in the big seat.

Bog Gretchen said the state recommended against football, but that it should be the MHSAA's decision.   90 minutes later, football is on starting September 18.  I am honestly glad my kid does not play football.

Second round starting in my department.  Last time led to 13 positive and up to 40 quarantined.   Hopefully, we get a lid in it faster this time, as we are simultaneously preparing for non-peaceful demonstrations.

This round's patient zero caught it from his college age daughter.
