So what exactly made that Al's night?  He wasn't mentioned once. They didn't even play the usual Al intro video.

Personally, I like the Cracked Sidewalks idea of a throwback jersey each year for Al's Night.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Throwbacks each year always welcome

Agreed, I didn't notice anything having to do with Al tonight

MU82

Maybe they were talking about a different Al!

Al Pacino ... Al Roker ... Al Albert ... Al-ibaba ... Al Michaels ... Al Lewis ... Al Cowlings ... I mean, what the Al?!?

I made a point of being in my seats before the intro video specifically to see that. Disappointed they didn't run it.

There was the people you fight cancer for thing and al died of leukemia but yeah overall not a lot of honor for him
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

IIRC, some here last year said it was time to move on from Al. It surprised me a bit as I think they were Al Generation posters.

I don't agree...but the one thing over the years that touched me was during the pre-games, Lavin stepped out of his huddle to watch with admiration the Al video. He was obviously very emotional as he wiped away a tear or two...but Al was our link to the old Big East when the legacy teams still weren't real thrilled to welcome us.

That Al's Night tee from a few years ago is a keeper.

We definitely over do the Al thing...but my "first to go" honor would be taking his name off the jersey.  That is a bridge too far.  It made sense the season in which he passed, just shouldn't be permanent.

Thought it was weird there wasn't anything last night, if only bc they ID'd it as Al's night.

The stand for cancer execution was extremely well done.

Lose the Al on the jersey, lost Al's night and keep the court. I have said it for 3-4 years, I love Al big time, but time to move on.  He has had more Al's Nights than years coached here.

On a sidebar, why the hell does Lovell have to go on the court for every game? I would rather have four Al Night's a year then see Lovell prance out there twice a game.

Agree on both counts.

Too much going on last with the kids, Coaches vs. Cancer and Al's night.  Al got lost in the shuffle.

Maybe talking about the Educator spotlight? Or Season Ticket Holder of the Game?

I agree that at this point the name should come off the jersey.

Is that what you young kids call "petting" nowadays?

GooooMarquette

Interesting, because they talked about it being Al's Night on the broadcast. Strange that we'd get more "Al" on Al's Night by watching on TV.

FWIW, I would be fine if they skipped Al's Night altogether...but I LOVE that we've kept the "AL" on our uniforms and hope they don't drop it.

Goose

Goooo

Do not get me wrong, I do like the Al on jersey and always thought it was cool. Just saying, time moves on. Have to add, I really cannot believe all of the old timers that still support program and go to games. Everyone around me last night all appeared to be old enough to remember jump balls after every basket. I felt like a teenager.
