Simplifying The Playbook

Sometimes in football coaches remove plays from the playbook to make things easier on a new quarterback. This is not a perfect analogy, but I was wondering if having fewer players to deal with is actually a benefit to Wojo, and possibly the players themselves.

Having fewer players makes decisions regarding minutes and substitutions easier for Wojo.

Having fewer players clarifies the roles, and what is expected of the remaining players.

I have seen teams in the past do amazingly well with short benches, so I don't believe this is limited to Marquette.

In a perfect world a coach would have a deep and talented bench, but in reality, most good teams are only 7, 8, or 9 really talented players deep. Marquette seems to fit that category this year.

The last two games the coach and team seemed much more focused and organized, with certain players really stepping into their roles. Losing players is never a good thing, but this may be the silver lining.

Yes, if one game is your sample size.  Easy to find the stat you want.

It also may motivate them to take on more responsibility . aka stepping up.
