Howard is a genuine outlier as a pull-up shooter, and he’s doing his thing again this year. He’s averaging 27 points per game and shooting 45 percent from 3 because that’s what Markus Howard does. He gets buckets. He’s also under 6-foot tall and has a negative assist-to-turnover ratio, which means he’s a very situational prospect in that he needs a bigger distributor to be successful. But Howard absolutely deserves a shot. Even if the defense is a disaster, he’s the best shooter in the country, and shooting matters"

Solid analysis. Sounds about right though I think he could go higher. He’s an elite shooter, high character, above average athlete, and only 20 years old. He will get stronger and perhaps a bit more athletic to help him offset his height.

That negative assist to turnover ratio is no bueno, however.

The biggest benefit for Howard moving to the next level is going from the top of the scouting report to the bottom. He's leading the nation in scoring despite every team game planning to stop him. That won't be an issue at the next level. Better defenders in general, sure, but not the blanketed doubles he often faces now.

Exactly, and he's already demonstrated proficiency from Pro 3pt range. His handle has improved enough to exploit  one on one match ups. Constant double teams?  Not so much.

I could see him going slightly higher, where he's listed or an early free agent signing. He's going to get a shot barring any unforeseen setback.

I tend to agree with this. But I do think he's a good enough shooter that he can have a role in the NBA. Steve Novak was able to build a nice career as primarily a spot up shooter. And while he had a significant height advantage over Markus, Markus is probably a better shooter.

Baffled how Powell would be seen as a better pro prospect than Markus. He’s 2 inches taller, sure, but he’s still an undersized 2, not like he’s 6’4-6’5. He shoots a lower percentage from 2, a full 10% lower from 3, and doesn’t outstrip him in any other stats. Plus he’s 2 years older. He’s just a lesser efficient volume scorer

However, he%u2019s still one of the best scorers in college basketball, a terrific pull-up threat who has led Seton Hall%u2019s offense to a strong start to the season. He%u2019s averaging 21.2 points a night. And while he%u2019s a bit undersized a 6-foot-2, he%u2019s powerful and not a defensive liability because of that strength."
