I mean, everyone understands red shirting is a two way street, right?? Maybe it's as simple as Symir didn't want to red shirt knowing full well his minutes would be very limited. I love how people always get so mad at a coaching staff when a kid doesn't red shirt etc. I'm willing to bet a vast majority of the time when a red shirt doesn't happen, it's about the player not wanting to than anything else.

Well said

The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me.” Al McGuire

We agree, guru. This was almost my exact thought when I saw the title to this thread and knew what would be in it.

What if, as part of the recruiting -- and especially after Symir decided to reclassify -- he said, "I want to sign with y'all, but I don't really want to redshirt." If Wojo was high on him, even if it meant he wouldn't get much from him as a freshman, should Wojo have said, "Tough. Go somewhere else"?

I don't know that's what happened, but it's logical. Makes a lot more sense than speculating he'll transfer.

Thrilled to have this outstanding young man on our team.

Symir will get some run this year at different points which will prepare him for a larger role next year n prepare him in a way that red shirting could not
