i will never forget the feeling of awe and amazement I had in 1988 upon entering, of all places, the old Rocky Rococo's pizza next to Jim Hegarty's pub as a college freshman at MU. Adorning all the walls were vintage 1970s and 1980s larger than life glossy pics of Bo Ellis, Butch Lee, Bernard Toone, Dean the Dream, Sam Worthen, Doc Rivers, Coach Al etc. You could just feel the "cool" surrounding this program.

Short of MU reprinting and fundraising/ selling some of these gems, does anyone know how to go about purchasing some vintage MU hoops pics?
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

Dr. Blackheart

The upcoming Blue & Gold banquet sells a bunch of these. They have added internet bidding if you don't attend in person. I have bought stuff on eBay too.

Just off campus yeah.  Where the Al is now I believe.

NE corner of 12th and Wells.

That's where Hegarty's was for sure.  But I didn't think Rocky's was there.  I thought Rocky's was in a building of its own - maybe there used to be a placed called the "Broken Yoke" there prior to Rocky's?  Or am I thinking of something else.

I was on the tail end of Hegarty's existence, as I graduated in 2009. Nevertheless, great times were had. It was the only bar in Milwaukee I felt comfortable using a fake ID, so we started going sophomore year, and never had any issues. The pool table and pinball machines were great for a slow weeknight splitting a pitcher with friends. Thursday night was 20 cent wings, when you could pound 50 pretty decent sized wings for $10. Weekends were busier, and while it wasn't our #1 spot, it was always worth a drop by to see how things were going on the walk home to Schroeder or our apartment.

Kind of the perfect all-around college bar. Not too d-baggish, fun whether busy or crowded, decent food, fun St. Patty's day spot, cheap prices. Had more character than Caffrey's and Murphy's combined.

Ham 'n' Egger > Rocky Roccocco's

Ham 'N' Egger was our regular post-imbibing joint our senior year. "Steak" and eggs for, like, $2.50.

A friend of ours who went to Marquette about 10 years before we did insists that it used to be called "The Buttery." I can neither confirm nor deny that.
